What's new

Jazz claim Joe Ingles and Jordan Hamilton off waivers.

I suppose then that answers and doesn't answer my question. The thread went from 3 pages to 7 in a small amount to time I wasn't paying attention, and the last page was in the same vein as your response, so I'm making the assumption, then, that the last four pages were antagonistic idiocy.

You could just read them, or would that take up too much precious time?

I estimate it would take 3-5 minutes to do so.

Ingles could prove a diamond in the rough pickup very capable with good seasoning in Europe. Great pickups for #14 and 15th man, although I'd be surprised if we do not cut at least one more to carry 14.

Murry is the last real cut-able player.

Some may point to Evans, but he is a fan favorite and I don't see us cutting a dude like him just to take a flyer on a scrub.

I like this move. I think both guys are NBA players. It never hurts to have more depth. Maybe Hamilton is insurance if Hood isn't ready. Hood is going to be hot and cold this year. Secondly, Inglis can mentor Exum and also is a good shooter. These guys whether they play a lot are upgrades of Felix.

27 teams in the nba have 15 man rosters right now, so I think it's safe to say we are probably keeping all the guys at least for now.

Well, the point was I would consider such painful discussion (reading the back end of it) completely worthless and meaningless since it's the 15th man we're talking about and you can only dress 13 a game, that I didn't want to waste ANY time, be it precious or pot sitting.

Hey, lets just see how it all plays out - I am excited by the move - I think the roster is better than before the move - will it have significant impact - probably not - but it may do.

I am just excited to see how ingles plays in the nba and whether he can provide us with any benefits.

It is obviously very uncertain at the moment how many, if any, minutes ingles will get. There aren't much on offer. I'm interested in what Quin is thinking on it. Time will tell.

Somebody may have already mentioned this, but I remember KOC liked Jordan Hamilton when he was in the draft. That was around the time there where reports about Coach Barnes talking to Sloan about how to design an offense.

I'd love PKM's thoughts on this.

murry will be cut for mekel.

Why it may happen:
- Unless Snyder's messing with us, Murry hasn't impressed (apparently behind Clark in the depth chart)
-Mekel's a true point guard, more than either Murry or Clark
-Good vibes from Mekel's earlier workouts with the Jazz
- In just completed preseason, Mekel appears to have improved his key weakness from a year ago (shooting -- over .500 in both 3s and overall) and generally performed well

Why it may not:
-Though both were 3rd/4th string last year, Murry clearly performed better -- not at all clear Mekel is a better player
-Mekel has two fully guaranteed years on his contract -- Jazz have to take on contract if they claim on waivers -- complicates situation for Neto next year

I doubt he gets enough regular minutes to significantly impact the team, but Ingles is a really fun basketballer. There's a laconic ease to the way he plays and seems to enjoy the game. What he lacks in athleticism he makes up for in craft, reads, angles, general smarts, etc. Plus, as mentioned, he can shoot.

Has always struck me as a great guy. Typically relaxed Australian personality. Will be a good fit.

Been thinking more and more about Hamilton and am excited about him. If Snyder can get him playing defense he should be fun to watch. Hamilton plays better in an up-tempo system so it will be cool to see how he fits in. I think he's a good insurance policy VS injuries and he's going to be a useful 3-point shooter in different situations.

Was Denver not a up-tempo system?

Quincy Miller use to be thought of as having potential. His body never filled out and he is a tweener because of it. I'd rather have Hamilton as his body resembles something that can play in the NBA.

Quincy Miller is a month younger than Rodney Hood. Probably too soon to be making final pronouncements about his potential.

But yes, Hamilton is certainly more ready to produce now, and it seems that this is what the Jazz are going after with these moves.
