What's new

Jazz @ Clippers October 24th, 8:30 PM Mountain Time

Height is not that important compared to his standing reach. Is that average or below?

Dude's wingspan is far above average for his height. I didn't know it was 7' until tonight. What's his standing reach?
Mitchell still is and looks shorter than most guys at his position in the NBA.

Holy **** reading through this thread... DM has been bad this year, but calling him slow?!?!?

Watch at 4:30. To me, Donovan appears to over dribble and overthink on the offensive end. I know he's not slow, but he's not getting to the rim or basket like he did at all in preseason during the first games. So yeah, so far, with NBA starting talent playing against him he looks slow to me. I thought he was gonna be ROTY cause how impressed I was with him during preseason.

He is shorter in height but again that really doesnt matter in basketball. What matters is his standing reach and his vert. I dont know what his standing reach is but he has a long wingspan and a good vert. Those things means his length for his position is probably decent.

People have really weirdly high expectations for Rookies. The fact that Mitchell is helping the team win means he is a very above average rookie so far.

Yeah, I didn't expect Mitchell to start the season with the worst fg % (minimum of 20 attempts) in the entire NBA and to shoot 6/41. Weird of me to praise his defense but be critical of his beyond slow start to the season shooting wise. Do tell me, how are the peaches in Peachiland?

Darn! I should have known better to check here.
I was having a hard time getting tickets earlier due to internet access and schedule of the misus.

Anyway was at the game.
I wasn't even able to locate LogGrad98 :(

Bench was doing well cuting the lead.
Then the Clips made big shots. Game over :(

Right now Mitchell seems to have one speed and plays in a hurry. Once he manages to switch his gears and pace as he drivers or rebounds then things should improve for him. (at least now the 3 has dropped for him). He needs to tone down his excitement and pace himself a bit better..It might help with his shot and lead him to less precarious situations which end up as a turnover.

Gobert hasn't really played much with DF,RR and DM. So they are still getting used to spacing and adjusting to each other. Also when the ball isn't falling for our only 3 point shooter, everyone can sag off and defend against the inlet pass which would be frustrating to him as it also positions the opposition around him to compete for the rebound. On the defensive side, guys losing their man or not blocking out wouldn't help either..and the turnovers...I think once we get hood back, it might help a little.

Also we are playing a faster pace than last year, so he might also be getting tired a lot faster. It feels like our starters have been beaten by the opponents each time so some adjustments will need to be made or some of them need to start being more assertive.

Yep, not at all what I said.

You thought he would be great this early, thats fine. Rookies almost never help teams win across a season. To me he is exceeding where I thought he would be this early, especially based on his role that he was given this early.

Also you have been critical of more than just his shooting percentages. You were critical of many aspects of his game including being slow and undersized. Yes we know his shot was off his first three games, literally everyone is aware of that fact. Good thing he found it in the second half today.

I think we have another Trey Burke on our hands unfortunately. I think its pretty reasonable to sound the alarm after 41 shot attempts. I don't even really buy that he made 6 of those considering that the stats at NBA.com have been inaccurate for much of the season so far. It really is kind of sad when Rudy looks quicker on the perimeter than your 2 guard. DL with another draft blunder.

Gobert looks oversized and slow. I'm afraid hes nothing more than a French Shawn Bradley.

We're done for fellas!

Worst game out of the pre-season and reg season.

They happen.

We will CRUSH PHX tonight, and feel better about ourselves.

Besides 6-8 minutes, Donovan played terrible offensively. Those were some pretty spectacular minutes though. My favorite part was when people tried to rub it in my face. Lol. Like, read, dudes. I'm his fan too and want him to do well. He sure showed me.

In his defense, a lot of his shots were "in and out", just barely off the back of the rim.
