What's new

Jazz @ Clippers October 24th, 8:30 PM Mountain Time

And has been more impactful than Dante has ever been.

I wonder if Dante has ever been given the greenlight after being 1/10 and no assists.

Mind you it's good.

Develop the **** out of the kid this year, while it doesn't matter.

I do hope the Jazz are trying to figure out what combo of players they are trading or at least not resigning.

Lol I wake up to read comments like "bust", "the next Trey Burke".... There's Jazzfanz for you. I'm writing down a list of names for when DM's shots start falling. He has the attitude, he has the tools, he just needs to find his spot still and accommodate to the best league in the world.

4 games in --> The next Trey Burke, thanks for the laugh, not.

No, it wasn't. DM has been very good defensively and show more offensive flashes than Dante has so far. I am not even down on Exum either. Mitchell has a lot to learn but he is going to be an all star.

Don't you remember the Jazz's #1 defensive rating after the Kanter trade in Dante's rookie year? Dante's Keep-in-front% ranked 4th among all guards in the league. It kept the attack from going straight at Gobert, which made him much more effective. And then there is this:

Post All-Star, @UtahJazz's NetRtg (+/- per 100 Possessions) is 18.5 PTS better w/ @daanteee ON the floor than when OFF (team-best diff.)

He was a stud on D at that time. Rudy benefited more than anyone from it. Then he missed his second year.

DM has shown the potential to be an impact for this team, but let's not forget that Donte was a force for a time.

People do that? Write down names?

Did Dante ever take 10 shots in a game?

I can't help but feel when Rudy is ignored on offense it impacts his defense.

He didn't get a sniff of a shot until the end of the 1st (I think) and only had 5 shots for the game.
I understand DJ had a fair bit to do with that.

Wasn't Rudy was ignored on offense for most of his career here. It didn't effect his D then. He's not taking care of the ball with authority right now. He needs to get his **** together, and he will. He is the best player on the team now with Gordon gone. Mentally he hasn't adjusted to that fact yet.

With no true #1 option, teams are putting their focus into stopping Gobert... His may even have less shots this year than last which many of us wouldn't have expected. On the plus side, it should give us plenty of open 3s...

As for this DM v Dante narrative Ive read. All ill say is opportunity and confidence is a wonderful thing.

DM is stroking the ball fine. All his misses are hitting back iron, once he calms down and relaxes into the game his shots will fall.

I also think his shot selection has been fine.

I was sad to see Earl Watson fired, I thought he might be the last coach in the league to value Alec Burks.

I hate to say it because I like Favors, but Lindsey kind of set up his roster so that they wouldn't miss Favors much. His minutes could be split between Udoh, Jerebko and Joe Johnson. Bradley tehn gets a few minutes as a back-up C.

But if this team truly falters, Lindsey has set his roster with short term inexpensive contracts, the Jazz could trade almost everyone and collect a bunch of assetts in the process. I don't think anyone wants to see that, but Lindsey's strategy makes it possible.

Great, good for him. I never down played Exum on D. I just said he wasn't a major factor in Gobert breaking out.

Gobert got his chance when Kanter was traded. The major contributors to his success was all the development before hand and the opportunity of playing time. Not the back up PG.

And I say this as someone who thinks Exum will be good for the Jazz. Kid has a lot of talent.

Donovan is a goddamn specimen. 7' wingspan, fastest sprint times in the combine, 40.5 inch vertical, same height and weight as Westbrook, Lillard, etc.

6'3", with that wingspan, vert, and speed, are more than adequate for a 1/2 combo guard, and through the first few games he's actually shown some glimpses of strong passing and vision.

he's confident, and fearless. his shots just aren't falling through the beginning of the season, and he's been making some questionable decisions. those will pass with time. still very high on DM.

Almost all of DM's misses are back rim - he's way too hyped. Typical for a rookie.

As soon as he settles down a bit I think he'll take off.

Y'all had to have seen Donovan's face after he drained his first 3s, had the look of a child who just opened the Christmas present of his life!

Neto's hustle defense directly created that 2nd 3, they look to have some chemistry!

Very interesting lines up last night, that 1st qtr lineup with Burks was terrible, but overall I was very pleased with what we saw. Good defensive plays once they settled, and Dmitch got his rhythm. I'm calling on him to have a 40 point game sooner than later!

Proud to be a Jazz fan.

I don't know what game y'all watched but no way in hell is Dmitch is the next Trey Burke. I see an allstar.

He is no Trey Burke, but DM is struggling.

I think we have another Trey Burke on our hands unfortunately. I think its pretty reasonable to sound the alarm after 41 shot attempts. I don't even really buy that he made 6 of those considering that the stats at NBA.com have been inaccurate for much of the season so far. It really is kind of sad when Rudy looks quicker on the perimeter than your 2 guard. DL with another draft blunder.

This was a drunken sarcasm post

I think Jamal Murray missed his first 16 3s last year too.

It's pretty clear watching he is a little over amped and rushing his shot. Once he saw one go in his stroke was back. Had one bad heat check but all of these are learning opportunities.

Things he needs to work on.. controlled attacking, ball watching on defense a bit, getting into guys defensively and making stronger close outs.

He gets where he wants to... he's a better shooter than this... he will be a foul magnet when he figures things out. He has zero negative body language and is confident playing through his mistakes. I think he has the mental makeup, physical tools, and work ethic to be great.

Trey Burke GTFO with that ish.
