Jazz did not deserve to win this game....and they didn't.

......pathetic shooting by the entire Jazz squad. Losing to a team playing the 3rd game of three in a row, and taking them to 4 overtimes.....is just inexcusable! Jazz did hit their free throws, did keep their turnovers down and did run some nice off the ball screens and picks. But that shooting? Pathetic!

Good point. It felt like we were taking it to them when we decided to look for easy shots. Then we would shoot contested (and wide open) jumpers, but just missed all of them. Tonight just wasn't our night.

Agreed. Utah had every opportunity to win the game (4 chances at the end of regulation & OT to win as the clock expired) and couldn't finish the deal (Millsap and Harris each missed two jumpers) and then allowed themselves to be outworked and outhustled in the 4th overtime by a team playing their 3rd game in 3 nights. Atlanta played some ugly basketball but they peservered, took it to the Jazz in the 4th OT and definitely deserved to win the game.

This is the kind of loss that can stick with a team for the next week so we'll have to see how Utah bounces back - more than just New Jersey, but against Boston and Sacramento as well.

My dvr didn't make it through the first OT, I suppose that's probably for the best. Even without having seen it I'll just say I think it's pretty pathetic to lose in 4OT to a team playing the third night of a b2b2b.

Seriously? Playing CJ Miles for three and a half overtimes, including as a PF and tonight wasn't their night? Leaving Burks on the bench who has more clutch 4th quarter performances in three months than CJ has in Six or seven years? Give me a break. This game is 100% on Corbin. That was the most pathetic coached game I have ever seen.

Corbin played Jefferson, Millsap and CJ over 20 straight minutes. Harris even more than that.

so why put this in a seperate thread it belongs in the GAME thread. but hey Carolina jazz thoughts are too important to be in the game thread

In a parallel universe Kanter and Favors finished the game in the 1st OT and outscored the hawks by 25. DutchJazzer was coaching.

nah i know ntothing about sets and motivatng.
in that universe jazz got outscored by 110 points in the first half and the game got shut down during halftime.

The entire 1st half we clanked every shot, even wide open shots. The shot clanking continued. We somehow got back in the game in the 3rd due to a lot of easy buckets because the Hawks let up. Then the game got serious again and both teams went into suck mode. No one could hit a shot. We had 4 chances at winning the game, including a wide open 10 footer from Sap, but he clanked it.

Unless Corbin told them to clank every wide open shot they got.

There was no reason for CJ to be in all those overtimes. Especially after every shot he misses he sags his shoulder and looks down for the rest of the game. There's a reason why he is drastically better at home than away.

Besides the fact that CJ went 7-14, 3-6 from 3, had 6 rebounds, 3 dimes, 2 steals, and only 1 turnover

Burks went 3-9

I thought both Millsap and Jefferson were trying to "put the team on their shoulders" by shooting jumpshot after jumpshot. In 51 minutes, Jefferson shot 0 freethrows against a team with an absolutely abysmal group of centers right now. They were playing too much isolation ball. Millsap and his inferiority complex hurts the team when he tries to prove to the world that he can "do it" by forcing bad shots. The Jazz came out flat, then had a blistering third when they actually tried. Ty mismanaged the minutes and forced the team to play dead *** tired. The positive side is that Ty should have an excuse to play Favors and Kanter bigger numbers tomorrow. I give Ty to much credit here methinks.

Wow I have been watching the jazz since 97 and don't think I have ever seen and nba game go to 4ot's. I lost cell service during the first ot.

yes, CJ's stats were not bad....Unfortunately, Harris was the one who just kept missing shot after shot, (which is odd, because he has been shooting really well the last few games) but his backup Tinsley wasn't shooting any better..
I am just frustrated because going into this game , i thought it was a no-brainer that Utah would use its deep bench to outrun and outhustle the Hawks on their 3rd game in 3 nights, and this when the Jazz were just a few wins away from leapfrogging up in the standings.

I agree that Corbin was at fault for not playing the bench guys more in the overtime. In fact, I would've liked to have seen Tinsley running the point some during the overtimes. While Harris is the better athlete, there is no doubt that Tinsley is better at running the show and much more savvy than Harris. It seemed that time and again Harris let Hayward make the plays instead on taking it on himself. I think Tinsley is a much better set up man.

Also, could've used more Favors and Burks, especially with Al letting Teague turn the corner on him on several crucial plays in the OTs that if they were stopped would've won the game for the Jazz, and I think Favors would've stopped them.

I also think the Jazz could've won in regulation if Corbin subbed in the bench earlier in the third because once the Jazz took the league, they seemed to have a letdown, kind of became flat. It would've been a good idea to sub in the bench.

I also was disappointed that Harris didn't push the ball in the fourth quarter when you could see that the Hawks were tired. That's another reason to sub in the bench, to keep the Jazz fresh to push the ball and tire out the Hawks, who we knew were on their third of back-to-backs, but it never happened.
