Jazz draft Keyonte George at 16

why do you have to get clarkson or kelly in the starting lineup? the jazz need to tank this upcoming season - their own pick is protected in the top 10 and they aren't close to contending. george, ochai and hendricks should all start and play 35 mpg. sensabaugh should be first guy off the bench and don't re-sign clarkson.
While this may be true, last year we were supposed to tank and Ochai didn't sniff the court for a long long time and vets were getting heavy minutes all season. Even Rudy Gay

lol

Mitchell shot 2.3 3's per game, George shot 6.9.

This is why stats like TS% and EFG% exist, to account for the fact that 3>2.
Free throws factor in as well right?

He has lost 20 lbs since the season ended. Last year, he was fighting some injuries. The college game is so bad and it's hard to judge anything from that bush league. The dude is an alpha baller and he has the potential to be great. Jazz took a swing and I bet it pays off.
Well, Ainge is da GOAT after all. I'm gonna trust him.
Good post

I wonder if Keyonte could take on a lower usage role and be happy. It seems like it is difficult for small guards with high usage rates to play good defense. I wonder if it just takes so much energy when you are small to get your own shots off.

I think ideally Keyonte would be a guy who sets up the offense, but mostly gets his shots when the offense breaks down. That is a very different role than what he played in college, so I'm not sure if he could do that, or if that would just be a waste of his talents.

NBA fitness is a whole different level from NCAA fitness. I'd hope work ethic was something we looked at before drafting these players. I feel like it is the reason Cam fell like a rock.

A lot of people are saying he has a lot of bust potential…and I get why because it’s u likely he will be able to be this super usage flamethrower in the NBA….in addition to the question marks about developing his PG skills.

Having said that, I think he can fall into a Beasley type role if thinks don’t work out. It’s not ideal…but I think he will find a way to stick around. There are a lot of undersized combo guards that stick around.

I agree. It's going to take time and a lot of work but I think he can develop into a good point guard.
His playmaking highlights had some really tough nice passes. I would just prep him now to be oriented as a pg. make him run the bench unit and don’t do the bench gunner thing with him. I think that can ruin guys. I see it more than with guys like Sexton.

I'm betting/hopping this is the plan. I have a feeling Hardy is going to really hard on him at first while trying to develop him into a pg...gonna ride his *** even harder than he did Sexton last year.
