Mayo has been surprisingly consistent over his career. He was essentially slightly better his fourth year than his first, and his fifth year (most current year) was slightly better than his fourth. Best percentages, most attractive one is the above 40% from three, passed more, shot less.

Still has negative rating, though, so hard to sign a guy like that.

Not really. First it makes no sence for us to sign Billups. He's old, will take minutes from Burke, and second, being that he's on his last legs doesn't want to go into a rebuilding situation. Billups would probably prefer to take less money to sign with a contender.

I do however find it realistic that we can sign Mayo.

I don't believe his options are running out. There are still a few teams going hard for Howard that are going to fail and look for what's left, and that's not even the point. I don't see Billups wanting to come to a team with no shot at contending in the next three or four years.

Unless you have an all time great with a great bench it takes way more then 4 years to to get there if you look at all the past champs over the last 20 years or so, all winners have been vet laden teams where the stars are its main vets.
