Jazz FA rumors

I'm not sure Foye is coming back. He is an inexpensive 3pt specialist that can change games as a 10th-13th player on a playoff team. He could probably find more $$ and a better chance of a championship if he were willing to forfiet minutes.

WE can only hope.

What? People are dropping left and right.

Splitter - gone
Ginobli - gone
CP3 - gone
Tony Allen - gone
Mayo - looks like the Bucks land him
Brand- Nicks are preparing an offer
Budinger - gone
Korver - gone
West - gone
Maynor - gone

All we need to worry about is dodging Big Al, Sap and Mo and I think we are set for the youth movement in 2014. Sap and Big Al will be snatched up as soon as Howard is resolved on friday.

Mayo signing for the Bucks would make Monta Ellis another bullet we really have to dodge...

I hope, and it looks like, Lindsey & Co. are adhering to old adage that, "a bad deal is a bad deal". Meaning every player has a price. You go over that price on a player, and unless they're a transcendent player (a la James, Lebron) you have a bad deal.

I remember when ATL signed Joe Johnson to that insane deal a couple years ago and everyone (media) was saying, ATL had to do it. The media knew it was a bad deal, but in order for ATL to stay relevant, they HAD to do that deal and overpay him. Smash cut to last offseason when they couldn't unload his deal quick enough.

I much prefer the wait and see game and get shrewd deals because let's face it, no FA out there is going to significantly impact this team. Stay the course FO, Margo's got your back.

Foye will almost certainly be back. Despite the irrational hate, he was one of the only vet role players worth a damn. Like you said, he's inexpensive for what he does. He'll get more PT on the Jazz than most other places. And the team is in desperate need for established veteran players to support and reinforce the youth core. I'd be very surprised if he ends up elsewhere.

Great news this.

Hopefully we can use our '14 on Barnes and grab him (GSW needs to make room for Howard).

That way we won't need to 'tank' this year - we can just click retart and start contending.

They are talking about a sign-and-trade that would involve Bogut and Thompson/Barnes going to the Lakers for the Dwightmare.

I'd rather have Bogut any day.. plus Thompson! Lakers have to take that deal right?!! Unless they are 100% he is returning.

Hangon.. if I were GSW, why would I do that deal?

I'd rather deal Barnes to the jazz for the '14 pick and keep Thompson. That way they can still have their 3pt shooting backcourt plus a very good player in the '14 draft.

Who would you rather keep, Barnes or Thompson?

OAKLAND (CBS Sports) — The Golden State Warriors have never been shy about pursuing Dwight Howard. They wanted him when he was in Orlando, and they want him now and are apparently willing to do just about anything to get him.

According to sources, the Warriors are willing to offer Andrew Bogut and Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes. The Warriors can also add in the expiring contracts of Richard Jefferson or Andris Biedrins to sweeten the deal with more cap relief for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Golden State, which can only sign Howard via sign-and-trade, believes that is the best offer Los Angeles will receive.

Again if I were GSW, I'd rather keep Thompson and trade Barnes to the Jazz for a first round pick in '14. Jazz can also take on any bad contracts or Bogut if need be.

That way they can keep the Curry & Thompson tandum going. They can grab another SF in '14 if they needed to. I do think a lot of Barnes' skills are lost with the GSW (i.e., they don't really need his 3pt shooting with Curry and Thompson already doing the damage).

I honestly dont see how Lakers could turn that down. Unless they want to let him walk and have cap space. But to sign who exactly?

Well Lakers might not turn that down, but Howard might. He would want to be in a winning situation and Thompson is a big part of that.
