Oh boy... PHX has a Hayward-Jeremy Evans situation on their hands.
That could be interesting

I think Harris, Barton, McBuckets and VanVleet are all getting overpaid.
Not at the Mozgov, Deng or Evan Turner levels. . . but still being overpaid.
I wouldn’t want those contracts on the books for the next 2-3 years.
Curious to see what the actual market is for Favors, Exum and Neto.

Exum will get a 3-year 24M deal and Favors will get a 3-year 36M deal.
That’s what I’m guessing. I would love to get Jabari but it seems like the only realistic option is a sign-and-trade (Favors?).

I’d take that over Jabari... if it’s front loaded those become good deals...

Favors was also hurt for the Houston series. He tried to play through it. Exum was also hurt with a hamstring injury and played though it until it got hurt worse. As Thriller said we played Houston without Thabo and Ricky and played them pretty tough. And how much better could Dante be this year? And could Grayson add a 3-pt. threat? And could Burks regain his confidence and play up to the level of his good minutes in the Houston series? And how much will O'Neale improve? Favors gets along with our guys and he came in last season fit and stayed healthy. Yeah, he pretty much failed in the Houston series but do we really need to go out on a limb for a guy who has weight issues and is injury prone(and who isn't great on D)? I don't know what I'd do really but my point is we were a pretty damn great team last year even with the injuries. We could be a lot better this season without changing anything.

It's definitely a problem that he has been hurt. That's a knock on him but it's a fact as well. The excuse on Favors is that he's been hurt and playing through an injury the last 5 years.
Regardless, the guy can't hit a consistent 3 and only played 17.9 mpg against Houston. He couldn't stay on the court against Golden State in 2017 either.
He had a high ankle sprain. I thought he would miss games but he played through it. He ran hobbled and was on minutes restriction. What was Fsvors injury?
From DL’s interview on 1280 this friday, it seemed pretty clear Thabo was in the future plans and is sort of seen as our Trevor Ariza.

If someone gets cut, sounds like it’ll be Jerebko or Udoh.
With the guys we are rumored to be looking at all being stretchy bigs (Parker, Bjelly, Bertans), I’d guess Jonas may be the odd one out.

He was relatively healthy this season until Houston in the playoffs. I am glad he did his best to play through injuries the last two years.
He was also a huge factor in us winning our two playoffs series the last two years.
I agree there are matchups that you absolutely cannot have Gobert and Favors on the court at the same time. GS is one of those. Ideally, Favors is a 25 min/per player and half of those are at the backup 5, where he excels. i think he comes back on a 1+1 deal and tries free agency again next year. He still believes he's a great starter. And maybe he can start at the 5 on a crappy team. That will likely be a consideration for him. Does he want a restricted role on a winning team like the Jazz, or does he want a little more money and maybe 30 mins/per for a lottery team? The excuse on Favors is that he's been hurt and playing through an injury the last 5 years.

Paying $12m to one of, if not the best, backup 5's in the league is definitely something a contender does...if they can afford it. Especially when you have a starting 5 who has missed 20-25 games in two of the past three years. 12/8 in 28 mins is pretty good, considering he isn't featured in the offense. He gets half his mins backing up Gobert and spot starting when Rudy is hurt. You are correct. He has been a huge reason why we won a couple key games in the 1st round the last couple years. However, his limitations (offensive limitations and constant injury concerns) are a big reason why we got swept vs Golden State and lost 4-1 to Houston. Paying him $12 or more a year knowing that he's a consistent 12ppg and 8rpg guy with no range is not the type move contenders make.
