The key to maximizing the Mitchell trade is time. The Jazz have to be able to wait out the Knicks long enough to make it possible for new outcomes to happen that they haven't been able to account for.

The Jazz need to tank, and to do so with Mitchell will be hard. The Jazz lost Gobert but they still have the players to make a top 10 offense. They got to sell off all the vets around Mitchell and surround Mitchell with talented yet disappointing prospects.

The worse the Jazz get, the more they can afford to keep Mitchell. The Jazz can play Mitchell and put NAW/THT around him. Is Mitchell going to be able to carry that? Hell no.

The best part is that THT still has some of that hype from last year so people can't 100% say we are tanking shamelessly. We got a "talent".

Once we get off Bogey and Conley it will be complete. I would keep Clarkson personally and hold him til the deadline unless someone wants to give up a first now, which I doubt.

Ahhhh so we also can’t get a couple seconds while doing these stealth tank deals. We also can’t do stealth tank deals that don’t cost is 11M in space next year?

Pat Bev was a down payment.

I mean, if you can, get them.

But you also need to get some players you actually believe in their talent level so your brand new coach can get some players he can actually work with.

If we went through this year without getting guys like THT on the roster, the year would be a near complete waste from a development standpoint.

Just stop it with this hyperbolic cap-space guarding mindset.

yeah, that's wrong. lebron has gotten countless young players big deals and jump started careers.

That’s wrong? Randle, Ingram, and other dudes underwhelmed there and became far better once they went elsewhere.

And whose careers did he help jump start?

Kyrie was the #1 pick. He didn’t help him develop per se. Love was also drafted super high and James had nothing to do with his development. Did James help Love and Tristan Thompson get big deals in some way, shape or form? Yes. But he didn’t help them develop.

Mo Williams is probably the most obvious one. Dude made an All-Star game with Lebron.
