Jazz have arguably the worst bench in the league

I doubt the Jazz will give another contract to Booker next season. In my opinion they have to sign a PF/C to vets minimum contract, like Bargnani signed this season with the Nets. The Jazz have to save money for the Gobert next contract.

These should be the priorities for next season to be competitive in the playoffs.

I don't know. It will depend on the price, Booker is a Utah Jazz type of player. They have always loved hustle guys who give it their all. It will probably depend on Lyles and the price Booker is expected to get.
 
Burke and Burks seem to be killing it. I get that other parts of our bench aren't as solid, but Burke and Burks have kept us in a lot of games (and been the difference maker in some wins )
 
According to the Cavs broadcast team, Burks/Burke are the top-scoring duo off the bench thus far this season. Soak that in for a second.
 
And I was temporarily blinded by Neto's aesthetic appeal. We need a PG who can shoot. And guards capable of providing more than shadow defense. Opposing guards haven't lit us up like this in a decade.
 
Our back up PG and SG are torching teams, including their starters.

Our back up 4 & 5 are weak.
 
These bench stats are nothing more than a ruse, if the back-up Guards are going to continue to outplay the starters..

Raul Neto is shooting 29% from the field.. That airball he shot 2 feet left of the basket yesterday on a mid-range pull up jumper was so funny.

The bench should be reinforcements, not upgrades from the starters. Whatever works though.

As long as Hood's hitting his 3's at a 26% clip, it seems the bench will be markedly better.


Neto's averaging 17 minutes per game as a starter. That's a pretty good way to skew the bench statistics... no?


I'd start Burke and Burks, been saying this since the 2nd or 3rd game.. They close the games so it's not that big of a deal, unless your big on labels.

How good would the bench be if Burks and Burke were starting though?? Hood would need to carry the scoring load, and he's a 2nd year player..
 
The duo Burke/Burks is playing well...but the other bench players? Quin is running a short rotation...that's why the bench stats are misleading somehow.

Ingles has also played really well. Booker has been okay but I expect him to improve. Face it the bench is no where near as bad as you claimed. The team is deep though really young. Lyles has also showed signs of eventually being a good bench player.

yep, that is why the team fell apart after the Kanter trade.

This is a false choice when you view it that narrowly. You have to look at minutes. And looking at minutes Pleiss has negligible impact. Banter has negative impact due to mis-fit and defensive liability.

One of the main reassons for placing Burks and Burke with the bench instead of the starters is that it provides a scoring anchor to the second unit that is not there otherwise. The Jazz used to give it up like a prom date in the 2nd and end of the 3rd Qs. That is not the case anymore and it is because of Burks and Burke being with the bench.

It is a great move for the Jazz.
