What's new

Jazz @ Hawks | Friday November 12th @ 5pm

First time poster here. Just wanted to say I am surprised none of you are complimenting the fact of what AK47 has done here lately compared to the last few years. I see more hustle. I see a beautiful stroke developing. I see a fighter rebounding. He did have 12 rebounds tonight! I just figured if no one else was gonna say anything about his improved play I would... Glad to be a member out here in Illinois : )

I see a contract year.

Sadly I wasn't able to watch the game but I am always delighted with a Jazz win. Hopefully they won't expect for the Bobcats to roll over and come out with a killer instinct to go back home 4-0 road trip. When was the last time they've done that?

One of the differences between Big Al and Boozer is that he doesn't get pushed around as easily as Boozer around the basket, which is puzzling because Boozer certainly is a powerful guy ... maybe it's a difference of mentality.

I just noticed too... he also ran a few pick and roll with Deron, which was so nice to see.
I only saw some of the first half and early 3rd quarter, but there was a play that alarmed me. At least this is how I remembered it, I could've seen this wrong. Anyway, Al set a pick on guy on the right side of the floor, almost baseline and Deron rubbed his man off there and hit a moving Jefferson (beautifully, I might add). Jefferson caught the ball but instead of going straight up like the roll man is supposed to (the strength of the play is getting momentum and a pathway to the basket, strength, speed, and touch is what makes it work) he went to his god damn up-and-under show for no reason and ruined the play as that brought on a triple team under the basket.

The up-and-under is both his strength and his weakness. He needs to learn to roll and go to the basket strong and with agility. He also does this weird pick-and-pull-up move that sometimes works that I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Also, awesome awesome awesome win. 1-3 seemed realistic to anyone you could've asked before this trip. This team has something special going on that you can't put in a scouting report or on a stat sheet.

Yeah, AK has been playin VERY well this year (and last, for the most part), and it is quite likely that the difference is his attitude, not that he has developed new skills (although he did strengthen up, which helps a lot).

Why aren't the AK homers out in full force, blamin Sloan because AK didn't play better 2-3 years ago? I guess when your boy is playin well, his play speaks for itself, and there is no need to try to distort things to try to make it appear that he is playin better than he is, or to put the blame for his failures on others.

AK47 for the first time since 03, has got me excited about his play. His clutch 3's, clutch steals, big rebounds, and has ultimately been the glue of our lineup. When he plays well, usually, this team wins. I just hope he can stay healthy and engaged.

I hope that we can work Evans, Fess, and Hayward into our lineup a little more. Give our starters a little bit more rest while developing our bench. We'll for sure need those guys if we are to make a deep playoff run.

Before he was injured last year he played a big part in Utah's success mid-season too. If he stays healthy he is huge for the Jazz.

I know when Joe Johnson was abusing Bell and CJ (in the 2nd half) I was wondering why the Jazz didn't put AK on him and try and make Marvin Williams beat them, it seems maybe that the Jazz thought this as well but wanted to wait until the 4th Qtr so it would catch the Hawks off balance so it would be harder to make the adjustment.

...well, hop, the way I got it figured it all goes back to the minus Boozer factor! Without Boozer in the line up, everyone had to step up.....more ball movement, more plays run for guys like Klinko and a whole lot less turnovers! Boozer was the straw that was breaking everybody's back! No Boozer, no more broken backs!

did you guys see earl's block on jamal crawford.... I thought earl overall did a nice job, bought some minutes from sloan in the future.

That reminds me Gordon Chiesa still kicks some butt, he mentioned during the post game that Jamal and Earl practiced against each other in Seattle so he wasn't surprised by it at all.

Could it be because it's a contract year for AK?

Depends on who you ask or which theory you subscribe to.

AK detractors will tell you it is or that he still just sucks
Sloan detractors will tell you it's because he's finally getting involved
Boozer detractors will say it's because it's cause he's finally gone and freeing up time, touches and chemistry issues.

As a Jazz fan I say I'm enjoying watching it and hope he can be had for Milsap money (minus the huge bonus Porty added) at the end of the year.

Strange to think how we went from having an anemic backup PG spot, and then Watson comes in and does something like this, and the past few games Price has been really good. I'd hate to make a decision if I were Sloan at this point. Both guys are playing exceptionally well. And I'm at least grateful we don't have to see somebody like Fart and wonder why the hell he's ever on the floor.

Great win, and Big Al did an excellent job. However, I hope to see Millsap getting more touches in tonight's game. He's our most efficient offensive player (the only one that's been consistent all year) and needs to be taking at least 15 shots per game.
