What's new

jazz is at -4.5, blazers at +4.5 in Bovada

Stoked didn't say we are a great shooting team or that shooting is not a weakness of the jazz.
I think he said that our team shot worse than usual last night.
Seems hard to disagree with but if anyone can do it, it's you

Exactly, he doesn't care what is really being said. I even listed their %s and team % for last season.

They were 19th in the league in % last season, already stated by me, and last night they shot in the low 30s as a team. It wasn't the Portland D...

No, Stoked is acting like it's just fatigue, which is ridiculous. I would blame it on "just being pre-season" before I accepted the BS excuse of fatigue. There is a reason to worry as a Jazz fan.

The offense is still garbage. Players are still largely hesitant to take open shots and pass up looks that take us deep into shot clock/cause turnovers. We still miss FT's. Favors' post game still looks largely mediocre. Favors/Gobert still can't hit FT's at a high enough rate to make our offense efficient.

It's not panicking, it's just observations any non-homer would make of their team. The Jazz purposely didn't spend any $$$ in the off-season for positional upgrades, which many questioned. We would look a lot better if we had gone out and signed a shooting PG and/or wing instead of relying on Neto/Burke/Ingles/Millsap who are largely offensively challenged.

I'm not worried if Hayward/Hood have a bad shooting night. They have proven to be good shooters. Burke still seems at best to be an average open shooter, Ingles still has slow release, and Millsap/Burks are hesitant to shoot a 3 even if they are being given the shot. Neto appears to be on a Rondo level of shooting prowess and Booker hasn't seemed to really improved on his willingness/ability to take and make 3's.

I still think the Jazz make the playoffs, but if you want any hope of the Jazz ever being better than a 6th seed(not just this year, but future years), we need to start seeing some offensive improvement. Thus far, we haven't seen any.

How much better would our offense be if we jsut went out and signed Jeremy Lin and Marco Belinelli? Total they cost about 8 million a year over the next 2 years.

Quin and DL's biggest problem as a GM/Coach duo is they think they can turn crap into gold. Burke/Ingles/Millsap/Neto shouldn't be in a playoff team's rotation.

Yeah that idea that fatigue would make a mediocre shooting team (19th remember) shoot even worse is absurd.

Edit: I will give you this Cy, the Jazz can certainly use another shooter. A good one.

The fact that you are ignoring everything that went into that is laughable.

OMG, they went to Hawaii which is 4 hours difference, wow. So hard. Then they went to Phoenix for a day? Then they went home for 2 whole days? The season just started? Guys aren't even playing a full minutes load? They got to sleep at home for 2 whole days? These are pro athletes who are use to playing under much worse rest conditions during the season?

The idea that a team is fatigued in the pre-season for a home game on 2 full days rest is absurd.

Locke was on the radio before last night's game talking about how hard the travel was on the team and how they had been practicing extra long and hard recently to make up for the missed practices while in hawaii.

I have heard coaches and players in the past talk about travel and fatigue as reasons for poor shooting.
Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Oh well, agree to disagree I guess.

Or you could be right and they shot poorly simply cause they didn't care since it was only pre season.

Or my theory could be right that you just have off nights as a team sometimes.

No reason to disagree with any of the theories imo.

Ok, so the Jazz weren't one of the worst perimeter shooting teams last year. They were just super fatigued last year cuz they practiced so hard. No reason to worry they have shown no improvement in perimeter shooting .They are still tired from practicing hard last year and this pre-season.

What you are not understanding is that last night was not how they normally shoot.

Your reasoning of "they just are not very good shooters" would be a good theory for if they shot 44%.

Also I never said that they shot poorly last night due to fatigue. I simply said that fatigue is one of many possible reasons.

I even said that your reasons might be correct.

You sure like to argue

Cy they may have gone through full practice yesterday because it is pre-season... they won't do that during the year on gameday. The legs looked dead last night... particularly Rudy. I'm fine with him easing in though because he played a lot this summer. I don't think it was cumulative fatigue, but could they be tired from practicing really hard? Sure.

We aren't good shooters, but the whole team went Trey Burke last night. I think we are better than that.

Rudy being fatigued is something I can understand, he played a lot in FIBA.

Cy likes......no.no...loves to argue.

He text messages me in the middle of the night looking for an argument. It insane. It's like crack to him.
