Sorry for going off topic here Mr. Stern, but your signature meme is technically incorrect. It should say "If it weren't for him, the PELICANS, Timberwolves, Heat, Magic, Grizzlies, RAPTORS, and HORNETS wouldn't exist."

Tim reported the Mavs/Jazz talk before anyone else and Woj confirmed what he said. Tim covers two teams: The Jazz and Dallas. It's safe to say he is probably the most informed reporter when it comes to the Jazz. He has broken the most Jazz news this year.
 
Deron is either getting traded to the Cavs or he is getting bought out and will sign with Utah. The "getting bought out" rumors don't fly and then turn out to be nothing. You can't bring a player back after that like you can from a botched trade (which is difficult.) I suspect Deron gets bought out then signs with Utah on a min deal for the rest of the year. If he helps, great. At the very least he removes some of Hill's negotiating leverage, which is a needed commodity as well. Putting Exum under Deron's wing is probably the best possible outcome for Exum. I like Hill, but Exum needs more nasty in his mentoring.

No, it ws reported earlier today if Mavs cant trade Dwill they will not buy him out.

Then he will have to break the news when the jazz get Jimmy Butler at lunch time.

Seriously, though, if we lost all of those teams and had left the Sonics back in Seattle, wouldn't the world be a better place?
 
Couldn't Deron get bought out and sign with the Cavs for the minimum? That's the main reason I see for the Mack talks breaking down. DW is clearly a better option for Cleveland.

I can never remember a "buy out" being rumored and things not happening. The only time I can remember was with Roger Braile, and that was a pretty unique situation.
 
DL could be playing "chicken"with trade partners by leaking the no deal imminent message. No reason to overpay or needlessly waste assets that could be valuable in the summer.
 
I guess it's hard to fault a team on a 50 win pace that's so young to make a trade, but dangit, this team needs a bit of a wake up call too that I thought a trade would provide.

Does Deron strike you as a ring chaser? Maybe, but he wouldn't really have much of a future in Cleveland after this season. Utah would be a better fit for him personally. No other market will love him like the Utah Jazz fans will. He's tasted that.
 
We shouldn't be disappointed with standing pat. We have a good team that might finally be getting all the way healthy and ready to make a run. We really dont need anything else on this team.

Although I do love trades... Video games have ruined my expectations for trade deadline. Plus there is the allure of all-stars this trade deadline. I would love to get George, Lillard or Butler. I even would have been excited to get Cousins even though he is one of my least favorite players to watch. I like the high risk high reward options for Utah, probably because the Jazz almost never go that route.
