Jazz looked.....average,defensively and offensively

On a night OKC,Minnesota, and Portland scored 112 pts and Denver scored 105 pts .The Jazz score 87 points against a average Detroit team.
Gobert,Favors,Hayward and Burks all got 1 assist a piece AND the Jazz got out rebounded !The PG play put up 8 pts and 4 assists while giving up to the opposing PG's 21 pts/11 assists. What did *the trade* produce,a DNP.I see it payed off nicely for the other team.

Question is... can the Jazz win defensively without Exum's length and speed at the opposing teams pt of attack.

If you can't excel defensively ,how are the Jazz going to win ?

With Philadelphia 76er's and Indiana next ,I hope the Jazz can show they can get better offensively to not only compete but show they can win offensively.

Pistons only scored 92 points on 40.5% FG and 36.8% from 3. Those are not bad numbers and the D looked good for the most part.

Unfortunately the Jazz shot only 16.7% from 3. and 71% from the FT line. Pistons also took 13 more FTs.

Cotton is a D League player at best.

He obliterated the D-league last year though... 22/5/5/ on reggie miller typa %'s and 1st option offense typa volume attempts..

So I'd say at worst he's a very good player in the D-League.

I was actually amazed we were in the game while losing these two battles so badly.

GoFriars is a Cotton fan who couldn't care less about the Jazz. Now that the Jazz cut him, he's talking trash. I'm not actually analyzing Cotton's D League potential.

They just looked out of sorts, overall. Not a lot of energy on display. I am going to attribute that to their time between games.

The defense was fine. It's just the offense.

We really should have signed a guy who could score from the perimeter in the off-season.

lol our d was fine. we just didn't make shots. hood went 0-7 from 3. we will be fine. friday needs to come asap so we can move on quickly

We signed Alec Burks (sarcasm)

I actually think we just need a combo forward type that can shoot 3s. I thought we were okay just didn't make shots. If we had Booker last night I think it makes a difference. I also think Millsap was terrible which is understandable given the birth of his kid.

Hood does this... O for 5 one night... next night he goes 3 for 5 or 4 for 5. His outside shooting is a bit erratic game to game but he shoots a good percentage so it's fine.

Millsap is only good in situations where we need to put him on somebody on the bench and the offense is flowing. When the offense is terrible and the ball goes into Millsap's hands and he passes up an open 3 for a drive into a crowded paint, I cringe.

We just need a gravity guy. Somewhere.

Would have loved to get Casspi, Jerebko, even and Illyasova type. A spot up shooter would be good no matter what position they play.

The other thing that drives me crazy about him is he reaches four or five times and grabs and I'm thinking okay now lay off a bit because they are going to call something... then it happens and he looks puzzled. 3 of our guys fouled Jackson on runners on consecutive possessions... his foul was the most annoying.

Every now and again he changes a game with his defense so he's fine, but I think I'd like to see Chris Johnson out there a bit more. Millsap should not be allowed to dribble.

Could have signed Marco Bellineli and could have signed Gerald Green.

Marco was overpaid... Green's brain is broken.

Bunch of guys signed cheap that I liked. Also, Jeremy Lin in Trey Burke's spot would change some things for us. It only took me one night to give up on Trey... His defense was horrible... made Steve Blake look like Steve Nash.

6.3 million a year isn't overpaying for one of the leagues best 3pt shooters. That will be the equivalent of a 2 or 3 million dollar contract next year. He also is a high IQ player who can pass.

Green may not be the highest IQ, but he can light it up from deep and has no conscious when he shoots, which is what we need.
