Jazz @ Mavericks Game Thread 6:30 MT 2/9/17

I've chilled out a lot over the years where I rarely, if ever, swear at the game but last night was something else. That filter shattered into about a million pieces. The moment the Jazz went up 20 and we're having fun it seemed their focus wavered a little and when some calls went against them it crumbled. I thought this was a lesson learned last season. It doesn't happen as frequently as last year but I hope this serves as a reminder that focus has to be there for 48 minutes. Especially this late in the season and going into the playoffs. ASB can't get here soon enough, imo. Hopefully it re-energozes the players and allows them to really dig their heels in to finish the regular season strong.

These are the types of situations that scare me in the playoffs. Complete melt downs.

I think with Hill out there we win this game, but it still worries me.

So close to a 3-0 awesome road trip. Grrrrrrrr!

We probably saw different games, because Dante was looking lost of defense and offense.. had his head in the clouds.. had some inexcusable turnovers.. His only saving grace was that he had more length than Shelvin Mack and that isn't saying much. Also, he still looks like there is a ball and chain around his ankle when he lays up..

Whenever Exum tries to push the pace, he is sloppy and has very little control..
Quite honestly, I'd rather see Dante go to the D league for an extended period of time and have Neto play instead.

What, so he isn't given 1 game where he is allowed to play through his mistakes??? Yet I get to watch Diaw, Favors, Mack and Lyles **** the bed out there on a nightly basis.

After seeing his minutes mapping GH's early, I was hoping for a close game to see if Quin would keep him in down the stretch and IMO if you've decided to "rest" GH it was the perfect opportunity. Bottom line, Dante won't jeopardize the result of the game any more than a Diaw, Lyles or our current version of Favors.

Man the jazz sucked in ot.
Hayward went cold (but otherwise was fantastic), jj couldn't make a shot and took a bunch of hero ball out of the offense shots (even an air ball iirc), diaw made some horrible passes for turnovers that gave Dallas easy brakeaway layups, mack sucked, favors did nothing, burks and Dante were hanging out in the doghouse, lyles played 7 minutes total without attempting a shot, gobert was fouled out on the bench.
Overtime was a complete disastrous carry over from the 4th quarter.

**** that game. On to the next one.

The thing about the Rudy foul is that I see holding and much worse than what he did, all the time, in games near the end when it is close and the refs never call it. I guess because it was so obvious as everyone was watching Dirk and no one else was around them, that they had to call it.

The thing about Barnes scoring on Favors in the OT ISOs that was distressing is that a year ago it never would've happened. Favors' mobility has seriously declined. Will he ever get it back?

I give u. Captain obvious!!!!

Lol
The funny thing is when the jazz were up 20 I was just about to bump my blowout prediction but was playing with my daughter at the time and then had to get her ready for bed, feed her, put her to bed.
Then I came back and watched more of the game and saw the jazz quickly dying out there.

This is simply not true. Harrison Barnes leads the entire NBA in Isolation frequency this year according to the stats on NBA.com ( shooting 47%). on 5.3 plays per game, a rate ahead of LeBron and only behind Harden Westbrook and Melo.

Barnes (was higher in this weeks ago) is scoring .94 Points per possession in ISO which is tied with Harden and LeBron and ahead of Westbrook. Meaning he's one of the best high volume ISO players in the NBA, its unfair to give Favors that much benefit of the doubt...

Yup. It's a product of lineups with Harrison Barnes playing at the 4 and Dirk playing at the 5. Barnes get to iso against slower PFs and the rim protector is dragged out of the paint.

Didn't know that. Still favors was a fantastic win projector last couple years and could really get off his feet quickly I just think that wouldn't have happened if it were last year

Did anyone else notice how painstakingly difficult everything looked for Dirk out on the court? I mean, even the simple task of running up and down the court looked very hard for him. Don't even get me started on his moves to free himself up for a shot, he just seemed ancient out there.
