This is what the rotowire website said about Okur:

"Okur was limited by back and Achilles injuries last season, but he got healthy this offseason and played for Ankara in Turkey. He played in seven games for Ankara and averaged 13.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.1 three-pointer, and 0.6 blocks in 30 minutes. The fact that Okur played 30 minutes in his contests with Ankara is good sign that he's come a long way to being fully healthy. His injuries last season limited him to only 13 games, and he never played more than 16 minutes in a game. While it's largely suspected Okur will play off the bench this season, there's a chance the team's true ideas could be to start Okur at center with Al Jefferson at power forward and Paul Millsap at small forward. The team is currently rumored to be exploring trades for Millsap and Jefferson, so there could be plenty of minutes for Okur this season. It's a situation that demands attention.(Rotowire.com)"

I was going to challenge the report until I saw it was from Rotowire.......

Think about if the Jazz have that lineup....It means they want to shop Jefferson and plug in Favors at the 4 and Kanter at the 5.

PG: Harris/Tinsley/Burks
SG: Hayward/Burks/Bell
SF: Granger/Millsap/Miles
PF: Favors/Millsap
C: Okur/Kanter

Or maybe just trade Jefferson to free up cap and get solid draft picks.

If Millsap shows he can play sf this is the best case senario. Mid point move Jefferson to C and start Favors at pf. Memo becomes a shooter off the bench.

Wow huge starting lineup with Okur, AJ, Millsap, Hayward. 6'8" or bigger at 4 positions. Cool.

I got the impression from Corbin interview that he will start whoever deserves it.

That's pretty much exactly what he said. He doesn't know anything yet because he hasn't seen them in camp yet. Sloan was the same way. It didn't matter who you were or what your contract was, the best player usually started. Although, what Sloan thinks is the best player and what Corbin thinks is best will likely be a bit different. Sloan tended to favor veterans, despite if they were better. Corbin? Well, I guess we'll see. Although, the pressure from a shortened training camp won't be 100% accurate of what he'd normally do in a longer camp along with a month of preseason games.

In my experience, people tend to pick the less controversial choice when under pressure. Let's just hope they give these camp invitees are fair shot. I would hate to miss out on a great talent just because they're an invitee. Circumstance and opportunity are what hold some players back from the NBA. In other words, don't let the hype of our draft picks and returning players cloud their ability to properly judge all their players.

Memo and Jefferson would be an amazing duo, almost better than Howard +Garnett defensively

P.S. I also got the impression that perhaps their roster isn't finalized yet. He probably can't say much because KOC is still making moves and signing new players every day, it seems.

A year and a half ago Corbin told David Locke that CJ Miles is poised to one day be a "bonafide scorer in the NBA."

*shutter*

Regardless who starts, Okur won't see major minutes. He'll have to play more D and rebound under the watchful eye of Coach Ty...

Scorer maybe. If he gets 25-30 shots per game, hits his customary 40% so that equates to 12/30, shoots 6 3's per game, and hits his customary 30%, so that equates to 2/6, and let's say gets 10 foul shots per game shooting that much and hits 8 of them, that adds up to 28-34 ppg, and about a 22-60 regular season record for whatever team that happens on.

No thanks.

Okur would be a good kick out target if big Al is a willing passer. At the same time I'm not really keen on Favors only getting 20 minutes or soto make room for Okur.

Jefferson/Millsap will get playing time at the beginning of the season. I believe this will be direction from KOC. They will be more valuable for trading chips come mid season vs. developing the youngsters.

Hate to say it but this is and will be the plan that we will all see.

Heard it first here.. or at Best Buy

The probability that KOC tells Corbin who to play is slightly higher than the probability that KOC told Sloan who to play.

I still like this depth chart:

PG: Devin Harris, Earl Watson, Jamaal Tinsley
SG: Gordon Hayward, C.J. Miles, Alec Burks
SF: Paul Millsap, Jeremy Evans, Alec Burks
PF: Derrick Favors, Mehmet Okur, Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter, Mehmet Okur

The starters of Harris, Hayward, Millsap, Favors, and Jefferson would give us our best defensive starting five while we would still have a lot of offensive punch. Game manager in Watson, two scorers in Okur and Miles, and a potential dominating center in Kanter off the bench would give us one of the deepest teams in the league.
