What's new

Jazz media day

Interesting. I think this might be the least excited I am for a season in awhile. I just don't love how our pieces fit together. I ended up passing on getting tickets to watch them in person this year. Mostly they come to town on a really bad night for me, but in other years that wouldn't have mattered.

Hopefully the rookies surprise and play big roles this season and make it exciting.
This is where I was last year cuz the whole thing seemed like a Cluster F and there was still like 3-4 trades to make. I like the guys we have and am more familiar and am excited to see the rookies. I share the "WTF is the plan?" type of sentiment with the weird fitting pieces though.

Lauri is fully done with his military service. Finnish media said after the World Cup that he is going back to Utah and that leaves him like 3-4 weeks short of fulfilling his service.... but apparently not.
I'm a little confused by this post.
Is he all done with his military service obligation now? Like no more service in future off seasons?

What made last year more interesting?

I love the unknown of this season. Don't really care about pieces fitting together yet. Or the record, or any of that stuff. It's about finding out more about these unknown players, and maybe getting some idea what this team will be heading into the future. This is actually even more exciting than the last years of the Gobert Mitchell era to me. We knew what those teams were, and more important, what they weren't.

Last year everything was new. We had so many new players and a new coach and a new system. If we won it was cool and surprising, and if we loss it was time to start looking at draft boards.

Obviously this is just my personal opinions and feelings.

Same. Last year I was dreading a long rebuild. Now it seems like it should be a short turnaround. I will be pretty disappointed if we arent at least a play-in team.

This is how I feel --- excited, intrigued, looking forward to watching a team that competes and is still very much trying to figure itself out.

I like that Collins said the Atlanta game was circled on the calendar and he goes to sleep thinking about what he's going to do when he gets there. Sometimes players try to brush that off as "just another game"

I appreciate the content that is being posted in this thread. I am super excited for the upcoming season. Sounds like Keyonte has been a standout so far in OTA’s. I truly do think he might get a shot at starting PG or a very big role off the bench at the very least to start the season.

Collins seems very professional to me. I'm convinced it's all Trae Young's fault.
One thing about John... Hawks fans/podcasters/etc. all seem to love him. I think Trae is a tough dude to play with and not a good hang.

One thing that kills me in all press conferences. You can never hear the questions. Like can't we get a mic that works for video and in the room. Then you could publish the press conferences as podcasts and videos a little easier.

Obviously, wasn't he voted as more disliked than Gobert one year? That's pretty wild. If Trae was French he would get kicked out the NBA.
I think it was like most over-rated or something like that. iirc but point stands.

The idea of both Lauri and Collins attacking the paint off of movement is intriguing. Jazz will try to use their athleticism advantage in the frontcourt and dominate points in the paint. I also like that Dunn and THT have enough size to be able to get where they want on the floor.
