Jazz not getting into the first round

KOC doing his usual smoke screen. He knows there are few available big men equal to Jefferson and Millsap, and willing to bet the more inexperienced GMs will blink before he does.

Actually there are a ton of PF's in this draft. Not saying they will be as good as Jefferson/Millsap, but teams may rather just take a chance on one of the handful of talented PF's in this draft.

KOC said in an interview he told Favors that he thinks if he plays like he is capable he should make the team.

^__^ yes I heard that too hence my comment. Good to know we finally agree on something!!!

KOC also mentioned that it's been pointed out to Favors that he 'could' make the team if the right opportunity presents itself.

Unless you heard a different interview than I did, I think that's overstating it a bit. What I recall was KOC said he told Favors there's a decent chance they may be looking to add another big and that Favors could have a good shot. Less of a "should" and more of a "could" statement, I thought.

Good point. He's also telling the league that we believe in our young players and we're not just going to casually give them away.

The Locke interview? He says that it has been pointed out to Favors that he could make the team, then Locke says who told him, then he said he did. Sounds like he thinks Favors should make the team if he plays well, but can't say for sure because he has no say.

Yeah, probably same interview. I probably still interpret it a little differently. Regardless, it's encouraging.

first of all, don't believe anything a GM says two weeks before the draft. right now everything that is said is more about positioning and leverage than it is about giving some media guy a unique insight about the direction of the team.

secondly, "teams are asking too much" is a today thing. value, demand, asking prices will all shift about a hundred times between now and the end of the first round. right now teams are feeling each other out and aren't too likely to offer a huge discount. time equals pressure on this thing, and people will start moving off their original negotiating position.

not saying a trade will happen... just that we should jump to conclusions based on what he's saying today.
