What's new

Jazz @ Nuggets - 8:30pm MST 2/4 - ESPN

First time all year Raja actually scored and got under the other team's skin. Loved how he ticked off JR and Melo. Melo should be fined for that cheap shot to Raja's head at the end. What a loser.

I actually got a little nervous after Smith got ejected. He was terrible tonight and it seemed like Bell almost did the Nuggets a favor.

I've come to eat crow and take back both of my earlier sarcastic comments about this game.
It was a great game, and a great win.
I enjoyed watching this one.
Maybe the Raja haters will start to like him just a little.

I liked how ESPN talked about how new this Jazz team is. So many new starters and bench players. Its gonna take a bit to get the plays and team gelling. Games like this make me love Big Al and he will be just fine in a Jazz uni.

Memo or Booz might have scored those points but they wouldnt have gotten that block in the end that Big Al did. Thats the difference that he brings more of from here, hopefully

I actually agree with you, thee jazz fan. Especially if we go up against a team like the Los Angeles Lakers. Personally, I think that a player like Mehmet Okur would be absolutely the perfect option to counter a great low-post scorer like Al. If we were to put Memo (if he ever gets healthy again) at PF w/Al at Center, we would finally have the length and the ability to match up against the Lakers. Memo would make Al unbelievably effective because his ability to hit outside shots would force teams to have to play one-on-one defense against Al in the low post. Al is almost a true center that would match up well against Bynum while Memo is big enough (6'11" and 265 pounds) to match up against Gasol. However, I would only use this type of lineup when we match up against a team like the Lakers. Against pretty much all other teams, I would prefer the Millsap-Jefferson combo at the PF and C positions.

If the Lakers go with Odom and Gasol for large stretches of the game, which they probably would since Odom is a Jazz-killer, then Memo+Al wont work. They will get killed on the defensive end. Millsap gets abused too.
We just dont have any answer for Odom. We already dont have an answer for Kobe.

It's a hopeless situation, really. Just utterly hopeless.

The Jazz had 10 blocks tonight. They average about 5.6 a game, so that's a good stat for me. Fes had 2 in 5 minutes. I wish he could get more minutes, but our bigs played well tonight.

Block parties are always worthy of wins.

What I thought about the game :)
-Big Al was a beast
-I still cringe when raja goes for a layup
-Evans is part kangaroo (sick put back dunk)
-Deron was playing with some fire!
-Thuggets still continue to play dirty and they are as classless as their fans.
-and LOL at Watson getting all those rebounds.

I think millsap will do fantastic on the bench, but i don't know how he'll take it cause he's been working so hard to be a starter.

Game ball to Big Al. Did it all tonight.

okay, Al was great, but the game ball goes to Deron. he showed a huge amount of heart playing with one hand and somehow finishing with a team high in points scored. and he may have made the single biggest play of the season drawing that tech in the fourth quarter.

Watching the replay on ESPN...

It's more impressive to see Big Al's numbers considering he actually left the game with 2 soft call fouls 5 minutes into the game.

Fes' spin move and dunk on Nene was very nice right after he came in was nice, so was his pass to the open Millsap out of double team (why would any team double team Fes???).

The Denver media is just hysterical. After the game they were whining about the physical play, even though the Nugs were playing way more physical than the Jazz were. They also whined about the JR flagrant, trying to say it was just a hard foul. They really hire idiots to work for the Nuggets out here.

And dare I dream, a win against the Thunder today makes the past bit of struggling seem not as bad.
