Hayward is being paid $25mm more over his 4-year contract than DeRozan is over his 4-year contract.Still a chance he has a Derozan like breakout.
Players can play in summer league without a contract - they'd just get insurance first. Wiggins remains unsigned, but played last night.
Obviously the Jazz don't plan on using that cap space anymore for salary dumps. I have enough trust in Lindsey et al. to trust that they done their due diligence in regards to potential use of the cap space. Nor do I really think it's a huge benefit to Charlotte by matching a day early. It's Charlotte. Who are they going to sign today that they couldn't sign tomorrow?
I heard randle didnt play because of a health issueOkay I wasn't aware of that. In previous cases where players were held out for 1 or 2 games of summer league, it prolly was just a coincidence that the contract hadn't been signed yet.
Like with Julius Randle yesterday.
I feel we will regret about this. I hope to be wrong.
Now lets all get behind Hayward, he is here for the long haul.

I can see the argument that some people are bummed out that we matched, even if I disagree. However, seeing fans bitch and moan about Utah announcing the match 13 hours prior to the deadline and saying that this makes Utah look weak is pretty dumb.
Not really, it would have been good if the Hornet's missed out on all the free agents they were interested in and sent a message to them. We will have plenty more RFA in the next few years and maybe that team would think twice next time before offering that type of money to a RSA tying their own hands behind their backs. Not only that but it sends a message to the rest of the league that if you offer one of our RFA money your tying your own hands behind your back on something we are going to match anyway.
The passing isn't that useful if there aren't players who can first bend the defense. Teams will continue to play Gordo and Trey straight up until they show they can score effectively in isos and pick and rolls. At that point, they'll be passing to players who are well defended. Also, if we're trying to re-create the Spurs here, this is a great move in one particular way. How many swingmen can pass like Gordo? Exum, Burke, Burks, Hayward can all dish the rock. Hood had 2.1 assists last year which is respectable for a 3 in college. If Quin and staff can get our big men passing better (a big if, I know), we'll be one hell of a passing team which is huge. The next question would then be, can our guys hit open looks, specifically from three?
Because you think a player's agent is going to have their player sign a contract when they know Charlotte is interested in paying their player big $$$ if their current offer with a tied up player falls through?
Use your brain. I think the money being tied up thing effects the smaller deals, but the players who are looking for big money will wait for teams to be freed up so they can get the most $$$.
Yeah teams like Miami, Houston, Lakers, and Dallas are offering and signing players that the Hornets were hoping to target if the Jazz matched. Too late for for some of the players they were looking for like Parsons, Nick Young, Lance Stephenson. There is other teams with big money out there and wiling to spend it, not just Charlotte my friend. Use your brain

Alec's shown that he's an effective end-of-shot clock safety valve; maybe he can make strides leveraging the defense to create better shots for his teammates. Too early to say what we have in Dante as well, but probably one of Alec or Dante should be on the court at all times, since they seem to be the two Jazz players with the physical ability to draw extra defenders.
