Jazz Offseason Plan

Maybe if Rudy wasn’t going to average 41M a year over the next 5 years we could bring in an extra player or two instead of having to move a key rotation piece.
It isn't Rudy's fault that is what he is getting. In the current system that is what he earns. Do I think he is worth that amount? No but I blame the CBA that decided the majority of the money goes to the minority of players.

We will dump Favs with assets… talk about how this opens up so many basketball things while ignoring all of those were possible if Ryan wanted to pay. Then the big lie is that we will be hunting with the taxpayer MLE for a big piece… but then all the good players will sign elsewhere and we will sign minimum guys. The talk will then be how smart a move that was because now they will be aggressive in the buyout market with more money. Keep that powder dry… just you wait and see the big move pal… you will so damn dumb when that move happens.

This is my super cynical but very possible scenario to watch. WE ARE ALL IN!!!! Except financially we will be doing some extreme trimming… but that doesn’t mean we aren’t all in!?!?!?

You missed the part where we don’t sign a buyout guy because we really believe in the players on the roster and feel it’s fair to give them a chance to see what they can do [see, now the responsibility/blame is on their shoulders].

I definitely meant to have that in there. “We will be aggressive on the buyout market… “ but then when a solid vet wing, who is also buddies with one of our stars, becomes available we won’t even ****ing call. (Nic Batum)

We really should have been all-in last year. It's crazy. DL went to McDonald's and bought a 10 piece Chicken McNugget for his three grandkids for $4.20. He figured the older one would eat 4 nuggets and the younger two would only eat 3 each. It's possible the younger ones may want more, or the older one wants 1-2 more, but he figures there's at least a 50% chance that 10 nuggets is perfect. He passes on paying $5 for the 20 piece because why pay for what you don't need? And what if you can't finish them? No worries. They fell asleep on the way home and DL ate 5 of the nuggets. They get home and now they're pissed off because they wake up and are tired and now there's 5 nuggets for 3 angry kids.

This feels like a recap of an actual event. Side note… chicken minis at chick fila are the travel breakfast of choice… my favorite joke is to ask my wife how many we need then immediately order 10 more than the number she said… there are always a couple extra left but no fights… yet she says “see we only needed 20”. My wife has been running the Jazz I guess.

I would like if the Jazz came out and said… “we are a lot in… not all but a pretty good amount… definitely more than most”. I’d respect the honesty.

I mean I knew to prepare for major disappointment when I read Tony’s DLism in his piece yesterday that “Hughes and Doke are basically starting second rookie seasons.” You guys, we don’t need to draft a rookie this year, we still have two rookies from last year! Silly us.

Knicks considering trading #19 and/or #21 for Terrence Ross.

Wouldn't Bojan or Clarkson be even better?
If the rumors of Knicks and Pacers are remotely true… there is an opportunity to flip Bojan to Indiana for 13 and stuff… then turn around and get 19/21 for 13 while dumping favors. Carlisle hates rookies and they are said to want established players for that pick. The hot rumor is Eric Gordon (went to IU) and 23/24 for 13 and contracts… I would think Bogey and 30 is better but whatevs.

That seems pricier than normal for a pick that low, no?

I actually thought this would start happening. The trick is you want to sign the guy to a 900k contract and don’t care as much about who the player is but about the cap ramifications. Sam Merrill was a good example of this… bucks needed to stay away from the apron/tax so wanted someone to add with a late 50s pick.

It’s yet another reason the Matt Thomas deal was dumb AF.
