This. CJ has done one thing, prove the nay-sayers right. He has grown worse each year. He got what all the proponents said he needed, more playing time, and got worse. He started, and got worse. I would far and away have rather seen Hayward getting the minutes than CJ last year. This year is no different. If Corbin is smart he will give Hayward 20-30 per night and use CJ as filler. If they are even smarter, they will use him in a trade of some kind. I think this was an easy, safe move to make, which for me does not bode well, since making the easy safe moves without something following it up is a good way to stay mediocre.

I agree. Wouldn't he and Jefferson be a nice fit on the Wiz for their 2012 1st and expirings?
 
Just say no to AK at any amount. I'd rather see CJ chucking all day to watching AK. If this last year was AK's contract year, can you imagine what he will be like next year. The guy misses 20 games every year, and in the remaining games, he only plays well in a bout 25% of the time. When he has a streak of good games where he plays well, you can count on a back spasm, turned ankle, knee, or some other crazy injury.
 
Yes, he's a chucker, but I like the kid. I've always thought his role was 9th or 10th man coming off the bench when the team is up or down by 20.

He seems like an easy going guy and he likes the Jazz--could be good for the locker room with the young guys. And his contract 1 year 3.7 mill is move-able.

Not that any of it matters because the lock-out will take the entire season and CJ will be one of 300 NBA free agents looking for a job in July 2012.

Ugh. Those F'ers better get it right if there's no season. MLB still sucks and teams are going down the toilet. Way to go baseball, you lost me a long time ago. I suppose Hockey didn't choke the donkey as bad. Maybe I'll get back to that while there's no hoops or football.

I guess this is as good a place as any to throw out my CJ/AK opinion.

CJ is a guy that has never been a self starter, and also is a guy whose game is dependent tremendously upon his emotional state. Maybe it's too late to hope but if he ever figures out that his physical gifts can also translate to the defensive end he could really give himself a huge jumpstart. CJ might never be somebody you want on the court in crunch time but that doesn't mean he has no place. CJ is a good option and still a guy there is hope for at the 7-9 spot on the bench.


AK not only has never been used properly he has spent a long time pouting about it. In a new era it is possible that a cheap AK who is actually used as a role player in the way he prefers (a Point Forward) could actually turn into an invaluable asset. When AK has had the offense run through him enough he always seemed to put in more effort everywhere else. With a reduced salary and attendant reduced expectation combined with the absence of Sloan, Williams and Booze it is not just possible but likely that our AK could redeem himself. That is my hope.
 
To be honest, I hate that CJ thinks he's a player and hasn't bought into the promise of the youth of our team like the rest of us fans have. Number one sign that he needs to be traded, in my opinion.
 
Gives Miles another 2 years. He will be better than Rip Hamilton ever was. Unfortunately the Jazz were'nt patient enough with Ronnie brewer. Otherwise he would have been our Tayshawn Prince. Look at how he has turned out with the Bulls
 
Don't mind Utah picking up CJ's option as long as:

-He is used as a role player BEHIND the likes of Burks and Hayward.

-Now that he's an expiring deal, Utah shops him in packages that hopefully rid us of Bell.

On the AK front:

-I'd also like to know where Kicky "heard" that AK is asking for 4 years @ $4.5 mil/per.

-While I don't like the idea of re-signing AK for any price, I have to admit I would be intrigued if AK knew his role going forward was that of a bench player who gives the team 15 minutes per night. With how fragile he is, slashing his minutes may actually help him stay healthy for a full season.
 
Why aren't we treating CJ like we treat AK?

Sure, there's been a huge salary difference in the past, but the kid's been on our team forever and still hasn't found his niche.

To quote entirely too many fans here... "It's time to move on". Get rid of the kid.
