Jazz players at the World Cup

Rudy Gobert looks like he is in good shape. Running the floor like a deer. He looks faster than most players out there. Good sign!

It will be pretty shocking if the final is not Spain vs USA. Spain handled Brazil and France with ease. Still got Serbia tomorrow. Funny even if Serbia finishes 4th I still think they are 50/50 to win their round of 16 game. Looks like it would be Greece.

He doesn't seem overwhelmed to me. Instead he looks tentative and calculated.

I agree with Cy that he just needs to go to the hoop hard a few times and show what he can do. Once he does that I think he'll be much more comfortable with everything.

He's shown he has the talent to play at that level but his mind isn't working the same way.

I'll be honest I haven't even wanted to see an Australia game since the warm-up tournaments before the World Cup so I don't have much insight on Exum's play right now. But when I did watch his international warm-up games, I was very critical of how he couldn't even score on very bad international teams.

Sure, the problem may be mental and everyone says the talent and physical tools are there, but he hasn't even shown anything in the past couple games. That's all I want to see, is flashes of WHY we went through last season to pick this kid. He showed a little in Summer League but other than some nice assists I haven't seen anything from Exum and it worries me.

I may have had unfair expectations of him out of the gate (I think we all did), but my expectations are for sure way way down on him for this season. If the problem is mental, going against NBA competition will not help in my opinion. He will just get beaten down.

Pretty sure he would be a Sophomore this year. He could have gone to college this past year and started when inter-conference competition started.
Remember he's from the southern hemisphere, so his school years are offset from ours. So I think he'd be a "freshmen and a half", so to speak.

It was talked about him joining a college team and starting during conference play. He would join the school in the fall and attend class, but not be able to play until conference play started. He would have been a sophomore.

Also remember he attended a HS where the main focus is teaching them how to play sports, so he should have been ahead of most college freshman anyway if he chose to go to school.

Dante looking good.

Best thing I guess about playing in the NT is learning accountability. Won't hurt him for his NBA journey. When you learn to defend it will provide value for your team's success.

It is clear Dante is playing like a new guy in a team - he doesn't want to step on anyone's toes and doesn't feel comfortable to take over. The australian national team has some older leaders whose team it is, and Dante is playing the dutiful rookie role. As this games doesn't matter he has clearly taken the handbrake off. He has been able to get past his man at will pretty much so far and has played good defence - his fitness has improved 100% since SL. 1-2 more seasons for the jazz, and I really think Dante's improvement will be quite sharp.

Not sure what was said but Exum spoke up/took over a timeout late in this one and also looks pretty frustrated with Australia's defense.
