Jazz players at the World Cup

Little bits of game footage is all I can find. I want to see just how Rudy affected the game, and this requires more footage. Thanks though!

Don't you have Internet access to ESPN3? If so, you can see the whole game.

My take: Rudy benefitted quite a bit from matchups. Pau is a size Rudy can deal with, and he had a terriffic game (though interestingly he struggled against the similar sized Tomic in the previous game). But he was playing on Pau most of the time. It would have been harder for him against a bigger center. He did play against Marc a bit, but not much. But Marc had a terrible game, no matter who was on him. Marc just didn't show up ready to play for some reason.

Rudy's lack of strength at this point makes him still more of a situational player even defensively than we hope he'll be later. It remains to be seen whether he gain gain the strength to battle on a more full-time basis against the wider NBA centers.

Recent games have been on ESPN 2, not 3.

That's why I think DL will tank it "1 more year" and grab Karl Towns.

Gobert & Towns is a perfect match made in heaven.

Gobert / Favors
Towns
Hood
Hayward / Burks
Exum / Burke

That's a line up I can get excited about.

Porzingis per Chad Ford was in the US this summer with an American trainer and pretty much wowed everyone in the gym. Already showing 3pt range. He could be the man. I still doubt we will have top 5 pick unless ping pong balls go our way.

,

It will be interesting to see him go against Radulijca. He is almost a Pekovic type player. Despite France's defeat of Spain something tells me Serbia will win the game. Serbia should have won the first matchup.

I will gladly pimp myself as much as I can on this forum if anyone can produce the entire fourth quarter of this game (likes, rep points, a heartfelt reply extolling the virtues of the respective provider, my vote for an important bill). I enjoy watching Rudy as much as anyone on the team and couldn't watch the game live. I beseech you most fervently!
Here's the 4th quarter:

Edit: Just watched it myself and discovered that the last 1:50 is missing. Damn. It's very good anyway, though.

YES YES YES!!!

Karl Towns if we get a top #3 pick, but if we don't, then hopefully Porzingis falls to the #5-#8 range where we'll certainly grab him no questions asked.

Guess we saw a different game. He seemed to be holding his own against Marc. I remember one play they tangled up and Marc couldn't move Rudy and finally swatted at him with an elbow which he was called for a foul. Lack of strength? Well, we shall see. But it didn't look so clear to me. He is a lot stronger than he was last year, that is obvious.

And a bigger center -- who's bigger than Marc Gasol?

Don't disagree that he held his own THIS game against Marc. Just pointing out that he wasn't on Marc all that much and that Marc was mostly garbage for the whole game, no matter who France had on him. I'm still somewhat doubtful he'd be able to go 30 minutes against Marc on the Grizzlies MOST nights and not get abused with some frequency. Hope I'm wrong, though.

I shall forever sing, with lim'rick or tune,
the praises of Joe Bagadonuts, the altruistic boon.
He's there to help a person in need,
A bandage, mankind, to those who might bleed.
So when in pain and watching highlights's a must,
Call on Bagadonuts, for he's earned your trust.

Now you've made me feel like I've got to find that last 1:50 (which I didn't realize was missing) somehow, some way.

Here's another version of the last half of the fourth quarter. It includes the last 1:50 (at about the 4:30 mark) plus some postgame. The best part of the ending (to me) is the commentary about Gobert as MVP. Between the two of these videos you can see the entire fourth.

I haven't seen much of Towns but from what I've seen from him and Okafor, I'd definitely pick Okafor(if both were available). I am not saying I'm right or you guys are wrong, for all I know you might have seen more of both and have better feel for them, but I'm curious as to why people here like Towns better?

I dunno if Towns is a better prospect, but it seems to me Towns' game would go much better with Gobert who's a true center. By all accounts Towns has a very nice face up offensive game, has a solid stroke and his range is out to the 3pt line.

He's the perfect offensive "stretch 4" to go with Gobert IMO:

OH MY GOBERT

I just watched the Spain v France game. Rudy shut it down. It is unbelievable how much of the floor he can cover. It's not just the Gasols. He kept spains guards out of the paint as well. Super stoked to watch him play next season.

His offense surely is raw but you got to give him 30 minutes to develop it. He literally owned the boards today and that was against as good a big man line-up as he will see in the NBA. He wasn't giving ground to Marc Gasol either, and that guy is as strong as they come. He also was catching some fairly difficult passes and getting his hands on richochets off the rim that were anything but easy to handle. I think you might be underestimating what he can bring this year.

I think Rudy would still foul out most nightss before he clocked 30 minutes. He will get 18-20

Now you've made me feel like I've got to find that last 1:50 (which I didn't realize was missing) somehow, some way.

The whole game

In that Croatia game, the French coaches gave up on him way too fast. He only played 12 mins. And he wasn't even in foul trouble. I think he would have played much better once he got a better feel for things. But they threw that 6'7" Petrus guy in to guard Centers once Rudy made any mistakes.
