Jazz Playoff Chances

I love Jazz fans who think the home games are gimmes because Utah has never lost an important game at home. In the NBA there are no sure things considering how we can beat the lakers and then lose to Toronto. I think the Jazz have a chance to make the playoffs, I am torn if I want them to make them. If the young guys get major minutes and they make the playoffs then I would be fine with losing our draft pick but I don't want to lose a pick if Burks, Kanter and Favors are getting major pine time.

Nuggets look like they are going to lose tonight. Would be a nice loss. An 8th seed would mean certain death to OKC, 2nd seed could be Spurs who are much more beatable.

The Jazz have one of the best home courts ever - we should win out... book it.

(and i don't think because John&Karl played forever matters all that much)

Also, Suns lost, so we are sitting strong in the last man out spot.

Houston won, so they still have the half game on us.

Remember, we are also only 1 game back of Denver right now and we play them on Friday (we both have a game before then: us @ Sacramento on Thursday and them vs. Detroit tomorrow). We could pass them in the standings as well. Hell, we are only four games back of the LAKERS (#3 seed) right now. Nothing is set in stone. We shouldn't just focus on making the playoffs as the 8th seed. We should try to get the best seed that we can.

Suddenly, we are only 2 1/2 games out of 4th place in the West, 4 games out of 3rd place. If we keep playing like this, I like our chances in a 4 vs. 5 match up against any of the teams in those positions ahead of us. A 2nd round match up against the Lakers would be ridiculously good, even though I think we lose it in 6 or 7 games. Amazing how just a few games can turn a season around.

I hope they don't sleep on Sacramento today. Favors seems to bring out the best in Cousins, though I'm hoping that Favors has enough confidence to give it back to him for once.

We have Kanter too. It is immeasurably underestimated around here how strong an advantage it is to have 3 guys that can win at the 5 spot. Plus the other big is awesome.

Two other teams I would keep an eye on would be Portland and LAC. Portland won't affect the playoff race, but they're only a game ahead of GSW and they are playing truly awful of late (FYI we play them 3 more times this year - so we could do ourselves a big favor there). As far as LAC, there sitting at #5, but are only two games ahead of us. They're not playing well, and the easy part of their schedule was at the beginning of the season. Would not be suprised at all if they fall out of the playoffs.

Yeah, if any team was actually tanking in the whole league, I would say Portland is doing it the hardest. Dear lord do they suck, and I think they all hate each other.

It would be huge to take it to Portland each time we play them. If we can knock them below GS we are sitting pretty.
