Jazz Poetry

An Ode to Devin Harris:

Devin Harris had a chance to be a hero at the game,
With might and fight and swagger he could really make his name.
He followed Earl Watson who had really helped the team,
and gave the fans who stuck around a chance to realize a dream.
He got the ball with with the clock winding down and gave a mighty heft.
The crowd was stunned, in disbelief, the shot was short and to the left.
Devin Harris had a chance to be a hero at the game,
but instead of fame and honor, all he earned is the blame.

dark times build strong chemistry
one cannot find it in a lakers team
utah has the biggest mormon monastery
would you like some whipped cream?

scrimmages tire
balls on fire
let me through the gates of hell
a new coach to hire
everyone's buyer
goat should be raja bell.

ode to cj mile

there once was a man from salt lake
that had a shot he would like to take
he would shoot it from where he stood
but the truth is he wasn't very good
it would clank of the back of the iron

giving us a headache like a jailhouse siren

The Change (an Original from JazzSpazz)

He said they had no heart-
only muscles
beneath the jerseys.
Lebron was wrong.

Hidden in the heart
lay the foundation
a defense tough
and inspiring.

The center monster
could tame the beast
from the east
blocking, changing, deflecting.

Dallas, the eternal enigma
caused pain and loss,
to the talents from South Beach.
lost forever

Today the beast is gone
A shadow only
remains
of what once was

The Music will calm
the players, callous
from Dallas.
Kings no more

Heart's a muscle.

Dear Jazz,
I have been a fan all the way back to the days of Frank.
I have loved you when we smashed the stats,
and defended you when we got spanked.

I remember the days of a young, Stockton and Malone.
When defense was actually played
and refs didn't call every elbow that was thrown.

And Larry H Miller kept good players happy
and defended Salt Lake City's honor.
When in the hell is his son going to pull his head out
and fire Kevin O Conner?

They say that a man named Tyrone Corbin
is going to lead the Jazz into the future.
Even if we get lucky and go to the finals,
With Tyrone Corbin we are sure to get neutered.

I understand that this year
we are intentionally going to tank
But history is repeating, we draft a great player or two
and we still find a way, so that we get spanked.

I am hoping that this time the five year plan
is to actually win the trophy of gold.
Because even for the most dedicated fans,
getting send home in the first round, is sure getting old.
