Jazz Pre-Draft Workouts

I think something is up. Players projected in 20's or 40's, announced late Friday before a long weekend. The workout takes place on a Sunday.....

I love the draft. Please KOC keep the GS pick so we can play again next year.

Jackson will probably get a camp invite. He deserves that but I would be shocked if he made it in the NBA but he does shoot well, pass well and plays decent defense. He plays the passing lane a bit for steals but gets a lot off 1 on 1 defense as well.

He won't get drafted, but why not bring him to camp? Then if he's even marginally productive (like Price), Jackson could be assigned to the D-League. He'd be a great draw for the Flash. And on his off days he can keep The Jimmer happy. Kind of like Deron and Dee. However, with Jimmer and Emery, I guarantee you there won't be a problem with drinking and pillow forts. Nor will they ever use aliases in Park City.

Markieff Morris, Norris Cole, JaJuan Johnson, Shelvin Mack, Dallas Lauderdale, Jeremy Tyler on Sunday. Interesting group.

I don't think anything is necessarily "up." But you have to test drive the later picks just in case a good trade comes your way. And you never know...maybe there's a guy who starts flying up the draft board due to his workouts. If there is a deal, I could conceivably see them trade the rights to the #12 + CJ for a veteran SF and a pick in the 20's, for example.

May 29th - Norris Cole, JaJaun Johnson, Shelvin Mack, Markieff Morris, Dallas Lauderdale, and Jeremy Tyler

May 31st - Jackson Emery

June 3rd - Enes Kanter

Workouts can change things drastically. Here are last year's players that had their stock skyrocket or plummet after workouts.

Winners
Paul George: Projected (DX) Around 24 through the end of May, ended up at 10th.
Gordon Hayward: Slotted about 18 before workouts, went 9th.
Eric Bledsoe: Around 25 before workouts, modest jump to 18th.

Losers
Cole Aldrich: Slated around 6 through his entire college career. Ended up at 14.
Ed Davis: Around 7 before workouts. Tumbled to 13.
Hassan Whiteside: Back end lottery pick before workouts (and interviews), wasn't grabbed until the second round by Sacto.

Yeah, not bad. I'm hoping that since most of these players are way below where the Jazz are drafting that the Jazz are looking at picking up a pick or two later in the draft.

These work outs tell other teams that The Jazz may be willing to trade one of their picks.

Keeps the other GMs on their toes and more likely to approach KOC with trade ideas.

Jackson Emery is too short for the 2.
If he had any sort of PG skills I could see a team picking him up as a backup defensive 1.
Too bad we probably won't have any summer camps, this is going to hurt the undrafted hopefuls more than anyone.

Here is the official Jazz site for workouts--https://www.nba.com/jazz/news/2011_jazz_predraft_workouts_day_1.html

Interesting at the bottom of the page they show 6 workouts. I wonder if the PR office got a tip on KOC's plans or if the web-guy just decided to put a place holder in there.

Six workouts would be great. It would keep me entertained for the next 4 weeks.

They don't list a time for the workouts, so you stalkers will have to park outside the Zions Bank Training Facility all day to try to catch a glimpse.

Enes Kanter is set to workout with the Jazz on June 2nd - June 3rd in Chicago, interviewing is going to be the main part of the workout with some actual working out.

After the Chicago workout with Kanter the Jazz are going to go to Europe to watch all of the top european players workout and maybe some interviewing with them.

Bismack Biyombo and Jan Vesely are the two players that the Jazz are definitely go to see while they're over there.

Ryan Feldman just tweeted this stuff. Start from the bottom and go up.

Seems like Shelvin Mack is really doing well in draft workouts and he helped himself in Chicago. Mack has a good chance to get in 1st round.

Source at Jazz workout said Norris Cole appeared out of his league and JaJuan Johnson started well but wasn't overly impressive.

Source at the Jazz workout said Markieff Morris appeared to be the most talented but didn't seem to give it his all and didn't do so well.

Source at Jazz workout said Jeremy Tyler looked good and was very mature and serious.

The source said Shelvin Mack's positive attitude was incredible. He cheered on the other players the whole time.

Source at Jazz workout said Shelvin Mack was very impressive, shot well, great in drills.

Just talked to some1 who was @ the Jazz workout 2day w/ Shelvin Mack, JaJuan Johnson, Markieff Morris, Jeremy Tyler, Norris Cole, Lauderdale

Mack's another I've watched for a loooong time ... like him a lot. Why (seriously) are we looking at him?
