Jazz Pre-Draft Workouts

I agree that lack of a consistent jump shot hurts Turner, but he has great feel for the game and handle. The jump shot should come along once his confidence is up. I think he would have a great rookie to soph jump if Iguodala is indeed shipped out of Philly.

I like Turner, and I may have layed on the hyperbole a little thick, but all in all I thought (before the draft) he probably should have gone #4 draft.

Well there were questions about Cousins, Favor, and Turner. A lot of it has to do with team need and what one team's opinion is about a player. I am not discounting there is a racial bias on both sides but again if as a GM you carry that bias you will not be a GM very long.

I maintain to this day that if Hayward were black and Evan Turner were white, they would have swapped places last year in the draft.
Disagree - Turner was a bigtime player at OSU and his production in 09-10 often dwarfed Hayward's at Butler. Still think Turner will be a fine pro - although I'd like to see Philly move Iggy for a 2 who can stretch the floor.

Sounds like Bismack bombed his workout. Missing nearly all his jumpshots, airballing lay-ups, he was very nervous.

How far does he fall?

Hard to say, he wasn't being talked about because of his offense ... but air-balling layups doesn't scream lottery.

This is what terrifies me about him. If he is this bad offensively, can't we just find a Ruffin in the D-League and sign him? So we really need to waste a draft pick on him?

Not everyone can run a clinic against cones, chairs, and 50-year olds and be at home doing so. Fantastic. Grab him at 12.

"Measurements just handed out here at the EuroCamp. Bismack Biyombo 6-8 w/out shoes, 7-6 wingspan, 9-4 standing reach, 245 lbs, 4.2% body fat."

A longer Reggie Evans? That's not a bad thing but maybe not lottery worthy. I don't know nothing.

Reading a couple of twitters from guys in Bismacks workout--they couldn't figure out why his agent would do it. Givony said the workout wouldn't change anyones mind--if they liked him before they'd still like him--if they didn't like him before they would have a new reason.

After watching him shoot free throws one writer asked if he could introduce the new phrase "Hack -a-Mack" because the opponents would foul him everytime he touched the ball.

I wouldn't mind Biyombo falling to 12 at all. I'm warming on Jimmer, so it'd be interested if Biyombo and Fredette were there at 12. Which one to take?

I agree. If I had to make the decision in a split second, right now, I'd say Biyombo .. but who the heck knows?

Biyombo could also be a classic case of bad practice player, great game player. Also, as was mentioned, he could just be incredibly nervous working out for NBA teams. I think it would be more important for NBA teams to see how he reacted to the poor performance. That would be more valuable to an evaluation than the poor performance itself.

Well, this should make it more likely he (Bismack) falls to 12. Now I just have to trust KOC has enough info to either grab him there or pass on him.

It tells you the importance of a 1-on-0 workout when a guy who has a 56% FG% in the best professional league outside of the NBA isn't even making layups.

I couldn't give a **** less about workout wonders or guys that posterize cones. I want a player. A gamer. Biyombo is exactly that.

Interesting, his standing reach is 1 inch higher than last reported but wingspan is 1 inch shorter. If this is accurate that means he is nearing elite size for centers as standing reach is most important. Also, this guy is just in ridiculously good shape, not sure if they do athletic tests there but would like to see his standing vertical jump.
