Doesn't really make sense to sign a player in the off-season then cut him that same off-season.

Happens all the time. Sign them to non-guaranteed contracts then if they get beat out in camp you cut them.

Yeah, just seems weird with how early they signed him.

Probably had some offers and the Jazz are looking at him as a decent backup. There's room for him on the roster.

Interesting fact: Counting Carroll, Jazz will have eight first round picks on the team, including five lottery picks. Never had this kind of young talent on the team. I am so EXCITED for nest season. Definitely renewing League Pass and watching every game. Jazz are young and may only win 25-30, but the potential upward curve is fantastic. We have a definite ROY candidate, a sleeper in Gobert and young guns who finally get their training wheels removed!
