Jazz Scrimmage Thread

um.... what if he just has a habit of putting his hands on his knees during stoppages of play? I've played ball with guys like that. Lots. Are you drinking already?
Was at the scrimmage. Sat really close to the court. Dude was having trouble breathing.

Probably faking it doe

BTW, when an athlete has an opportunity to expand his lungs and take deep breaths, he should do it. Hands on the knees is a good method. I mean, I know jazzfanzers will start panicking threads about their misperception of his conditioning, but a brough got to do what he got to do.

Exum is in the best shape of anyone on the team tbh.

It's quite obvious really.

it's cute how you copy UGLI's affectations when your over-simplified way of thinking just isn't cutting it.

Tell me, do you know how tired Exum really is? You are aware, I'm sure, that before Summer League started, he hadn't seen game action for several months. And I'm sure you know that there is no substitute for real game action. And, I'm sure you know that being inundated with new schemes and scenarios can overwhelm an athlete and actually increase exhaustion, right?

So, tell me, how have you disentangled all these issues? You're a ****ing genius. No wonder you take ambien... that mind is always churning **** out.

You overreact really well. It's really quite entertaining, tbh.

Ya, he is faking tiredness in a scrimmage game against his own teammates in order to lull them to sleep so he can then school em

Some people have suggested it -that it's just mannerisms he has, it's not something that he thinks about or does on purpose(to fool opponents or something of that sort), and it's not tiredness.

I don't think that's the case, I am not buying it, mainly based on the level his play which most of the time declines with the progression of the games whenever he's played serious minutes. A possible way to see if that's the case is if he does it the beginning of games - if he does, I'd be willing to count it as sub-conscious mannerism he doesn't think about and something that's not dependent on his tiredness. And something else that has to be pointed out, even if that's the case(that it is mannerism), this still doesn't mean he's in great shape, that should be judged on his physical performance in stamina-requiring minutes on the floor.

Exactly.
Fwiw, I never said I think he is out of shape or tired because he puts his hands on his knees or because he is holding his jersey or any other such "mannerism"
I simply watch him play and can tell that he is more tired than everyone else.

I don't even know why we're having this discussion. It is very obvious that Exum tires fast.

It's also obvious that he's a project that will take a couple of years, but that won't stop the deluge of threads speculating about this, that, and the other. And, it's also likely that in each of those speculations, you'll have some armchair coach saying he was sitting nearby and knows exactly what's happening..... when he doesn't.

I just want to say that when I was 19 I coulda play basketball for 10 hours non stop at the peak of mt Everest.

It's baffling how tired exum gets

Endurance isn't inversely related to youth. If anything, it's the opposite. We all remember dying during those seventh grade fun runs of all but a mile and a half.

If Dante doesn't have the endurance then that's something that will come with time. Most college kids don't have NBA endurance. The games are shorter accordingly, and the season 3/8ths in length.

I didn't think exum looked too tired tonight tbh.

It's ok for me to say that right?

I hit 20 3-pointers in a row once, guis. WTF is Exum's problem???
his problem is that he is a pretty bad shooter right now.
Hopefully it's just a lack of confidence and it will come around with experience
