Jazz select Kyle Filipowski at pick 32

No comments on this IG pics, besides her eyes?

My first thought was, wait, why is he wearing a cross if he's now Mormon? Guess it could've been taken before grooming/conversion.

Glad to see must of the thoughts and comments on his personal life are similar to mine.

As for the draft pick, I wasn't high on the jazz taking him. But that was before he fell and the value was just too much to pass on.

Felt the same about Collier in the lottery, but at 29, absolutely a steal. They all may bust or be average but the upside on this class has me hopeful.

If a NBA player took a HS girl to her prom there would be a lot of blinking eyes ......
Not as many as you think. There are certain social norms that get modified for the rich and famous. And dating way younger or way older is one of them. Tell me your weird single 50 year old uncle is dating a 22 year old and we raise all kind of eyebrows. Tell me Johnny Depp is doing the same thing we and wave our hand and say "oh that scamp". It just doesn't mean as much when they are rich and famous since our societal norms are different for them.

Kind of like how long it took for female teachers sleeping with male students to start getting the same attention and sentences as male teacher sleeping with female students. A 30 year old male teacher sleeping with a 16 year old female student? That monster! Someone lock up that pedophile! A 30 year old female teacher sleeping with a 15 year old male student? Hey, where were these cute promiscuous teachers when I was in high school? That lucky kid!!

We hold all kinds of double standards for women vs men, rich vs poor, famous vs non-famous. It is just the way it is. Even look at the Giddey situation where she was straight-up under age and it had a few headlines then just died out. No one cares in the long run. And women aren't monsters, men are. That is just the way society is.

Boy? 24-year-old boy? And **** yes I'd be pissed if my daughter turned Mormon. Or Catholic. Or any other organized religion. I raised her to think for herself. And did I say I'd post about it? Nope.
Yeah but what if she thought for herself and decided she would be happier in an organized religion? That is the danger of imbuing kids with the ability to reason things out, sometimes they reason different than we do and go places and do things we don't think they should. Trust me, my kids went all kinds of different paths. It's going to happen, and it might lead to organized religion. Although, I certainly hope not. Religion in general is a farce and a plague on society.

Well yeah if that happened I'd be unhappy, but it's her life to live and I would have to accept it. Not the end of the world. She's been exposed to religion, having attended a private catholic school, which is funny because neither my wife or I are remotely religious. It was interesting keeping her educated about science at the same time her school emphasized Catholicism. Same with my son. They are both totally uninterested in religion though and I think if they dated someone religious and it got serious that person would end up non-religious.

Johnny Depp has a long ways to go to match Bill Belichick at 72 dating a 23-year-old. Lol.

Well go back a ways and the patterns were set by the entertainers of old. George Burns at 90 dating 18 year olds, etc. He famously quipped "you are only as old as the women you feel". He also said something like, I would date women my age but there aren't any.

And I joked with my wife that when she turned 40 I was trading her in on 2 20's. Now I am debating, 3 20's or 2 30's? Hmmm. Could be 2 18s and a 24. Might be interesting. Hmmmm.

the current 'mormon' leader worked as a doctor, and one of his apostles is a scientist. don't assume that all Christians are anti science.

May have missed this being posted earlier, but I agree with the logic here. As I've watched a couple of his games Filipowski does move his feet on the perimeter surprisingly well, but he's just a sieve inside. He's also (as we all know) one of those short arms/long neck types (like Topic), so he plays a clear step smaller than you'd think from his height. He's also not really tough enough for what you'd like as a center at this point, and ends up on the floor surprisingly often after contact (maybe that's just the Duke in him).

The more I watch his game the more it screams "Domas Sabonis". Basically the same player with same play style especially with that frequent use of spin to the basket.
