Jazz sign Luka Samanic to 10-day contract

My guess is Hardy likes him with the minutes he's getting and would like to see more these last few games.

I like the deal. Gives him a reason to be in Utah, be around the coaches, and most of all, this is his last chance, he's going to work his tail off this summer, or his career is done.

I liked the pickup when it happened, and I like extending it out. Wonder if he’ll play in summer league.

At the very least, he’s proven that the potential has potential. He might even be an asset down the road.

Good move imo.

I'm not as high on him as some of y'all. I'm fine with the 10-day but wasn't blown away. We're going to have some picks and signings to bolster our roster and I doubt there will be room for Šamanić.

Though I wouldn't be opposed to signing him to a 2-way.

Eh, or his career shifts to europe or something where he will still make plenty of money and probably have a bigger role.

Yep. Lots of new faces in Utah next season. Should be fun to check it out.
Summer league will be awesome next summer. Imagine if kessler and ochai suited up. (I dont think they will)

He won't be playing in World Cup for sure, as Croatia didn't make it. I guess Team Croatia might during the summer play some practice games (Croatia has a history of playing somewhat similarily as Serbia and Slovenia, so teams expecting to meet either of those would for sure want to test their tactics in practice game(s)), but Samanic hasn't made it to the Team Croatia roster after 2018. Ie if he wants to showcase by playing some remotely competitive basketball next summer, he should aim to play for Jazz in the summer-league.

From Hoops Rumors: "
The Jazz used a portion of their mid-level exception to give Luka Samanic a rest-of-season salary of $432,795 on his new two-year deal, Hoops Rumors has learned. A minimum salary for 2022/23 for the final three days of the season would have paid Samanic just $32,795, so Utah took advantage of its flexibility with the MLE to give him significantly more than that. In return, the Jazz will have Samanic under contract for a non-guaranteed minimum salary in 2023/24. His $2.07MM cap hit would become partially guaranteed for $400K if he isn’t waived on or before July 18. That partial guarantee would increase to $600K after October 23. Vernon Carey Jr., the other player who signed with the Jazz during the season’s final weekend, also got a portion of the team’s mid-level exception, receiving $100K for the end of the 2022/23 season. Like Samanic, Carey has a non-guaranteed minimum salary for 2023/24 on his new deal. He doesn’t have any offseason guarantee dates, but would be assured of receiving his full ’23/24 salary (approximately $2MM) if he remains under contract through October 23.

Wow, that’s more of a guarantee than I would’ve expected for next year
