Jazz sign Micah Potter to 2-way deal

All of the Jazz beat writers said he and Juzang were ineligible for a third two way and that they would have to be signed to actual contracts. What changed? Did the Jazz renouncing their rights to him make him eligible again?

It seems they were mistaken if that's what they said. I just glanced at the rules and it says you can play for a team 3 years on a two way. It seems odd if they said otherwise. But I guess they could only have a two year 2 way deal. Then they are a free agent and need to sign a new 1 year deal.

From Potters side I'm sure he wanted to play with team USA and show himself of before signing a two way. I'm sure he was hoping for a regular deal. But it didn't come and he and Utah seemed to like each other. He has a decent chance to play and even get a regular contract here.

They were flat out wrong. Any player can spend up to 3 years on a two way for a single team. Whether its 3x1 year deals or 1x2 + 1x1 doesnt matter.

Potter will not be eligible as a two way player for Jazz in 2025/26 though, but can still sign one last 1 year 2-way deal elsewhere.

Lol we literally replied at the same time.

This feels like with juzang and eubanks signings as ways to help Cody Williams have a proper spacing to develop with.
