What's new

Jazz starters according to Jazz produced Media Notes:

A 2nd of unit of Watson, Miles, Howard, Millsap & Favors is better than a few teams starting five. I'd think that starting 5 beats at least Toronto & Cleveland.

IF this is true, maybe it's an indication of trying to transition Millsap to the bench in a way that he'll see as more fair (since - despite injuries - they've both started far longer?), then use that as a way to get Favors to start?

Someone just flipped my write4u switch.

Also, this is (an at least potential/on paper) pretty good shooting team. But in a really floor-spacing sense.

If that ends up being true about the shooting, Jefferson and Harris will have a great opportunity to look good.

Three comments:

- The Jazz lineups are going to change quite a bit with the weird schedule and the new pieces.

- I'd be surprised if the Jazz didn't showcase Okur for possible trades in the first half of the season, but otherwise there's no way he should start ahead of Favors for defensive reasons alone.

- It's pre-season, so none of this means anything.

I think this line-up prediction is based on the assumption that Millsap will not play in the game.

In that kind of a situation, it's a difficult choice between Memo and DFave when it comes to the complementary big to BigAl. You have BigAl-Memo-Enes-Favors active with Al and Kanter being primary post players. I would rather pair Enes with Memo as the frontcourt of the second unit but a case for another selection can be made, too. It's just preseason and I think we should not care too much about who is starting/not starting.

I wonder if this means that Memo is looking like his old self again.. As long as it doesn't take away minutes from Favors, I'm all for Memo getting some minutes and increasing his trade value.. I don't think Kanter is ready for more than 10-15mpg anyways. What kind of market will there be for Memo ifhegives us about 12 ppg and looks close to his old self? You would think a contender would take him on at the trade deadline as a rental.

This isn't the final lineup, even last year with Sloan we saw many different lineups during the preseason. I promise there will be a different lineup wednesday at home, and even another different one the next game.

Harris should thrive in that line-up. Draw and Kick with 3 options for a 3pt shot. Defensively they will not be real quick of foot, Hayward may be chasing lots of face breaks the other way all alone. Bell and Harris don't rebound, so Hayward will have to make a better effort.

It was on the radio, so I can't claim it, but if that starting line can just play even, that bench may be able to pull ahead.

Sure thing... Championship here we come!!! Hayward All-star!!, Favors - most improved!! Kanter - ROY!!!, Corbing - COY!!! Bell - DPOY!!!!
Good I woke up and realized it was just a silly dream. But somebody must still be asleep...

You forgot Okur for Comeback Player of the Year (do they even have that award?)

Okur/Jefferson makes me a little queezy. I can see athletic front-courts having a field day on the boards with those two. I'd rather start Favors - give him about 22 minutes a game as a base and see what he can do from there.

Okur should finish games; but would probably do better coming off the bench with a pass first PG like Watson.

Okur starting while warm makes more sense. Not that I agree but can see the inside outside working with Jeffy

I'm ok with Okur starting. He adds a wrinkle that makes us hard to guard and him paired alongside Al can be nasty offensively. This is clearly just a preseason starting line up though, it will probably be different when we play @Utah.

Raja Bell? I guess he's the new "Jarron Collins" of the Utah Jazz...no talent, but works really hard and the coaches like him.
