Jazz team statistics

A couple more cool stats.

Jazz are 1st in FG% at the basket (0-3 feet) at 74.5% (league average is 63.1%)
Jazz are 1st in Opponent FTs per FG Attempt at .167 (league average is .239)

Through 4 games, Utah is averaging 15.2 TO's. Is that too high? Yes, I'm sure Quin would like to cut that down to 12 or less. But how does that compare to the rest of the league? Unless I'm reading these stats wrong...Jazz are actually 13th in the league on a per game basis. Not only are they not the WORST, they're in the top half of the league in FEWEST TO's.

I know who has clearly lost it and his name isn't Quin.

Solid work, sir.

Well done though <12 is asking a bit much. That would've placed us first in the league last year with fewest turnovers per game, especially when you consider the fact that Quin wants us to pass so much and run as much as possible.

We're 4 games into a pretty brutal early schedule. Sure the defense has been crappy. Embarassing at times. But Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and the Clips are a handful for any side, let alone a bunch of kids getting their heads around a new system. Give them a couple of months before lamenting the "broken promises" surely.

This thread needs to be bumped at the end of every month. Will be interesting to see if are assists go up as the year progresses.

Jazz our 5th in offensive efficiency, Quin's system is working. The bad news is they did a 180 on defense from the preseason, and are second to last.

They are giving up 17.8 fast break points per game, that's more than last year, granted the schedule is tough.

I am just curious as to who expects the Jazz to be any good this year?? We have some new additions on the team, the team is young, this is the year that you want them making mistakes so that they can grow. Obviously we expect to see improvements as the year progresses but ultimately, the more mistakes they get out of the way the better. Lets compare first half team stats vs, last half of the year team stats, that would be fair. Right now they need to be getting these bumps out of the way so that they can be addressed from the jump. Its not even about if they win 20 or 30 games, but more about what they learned and how they are going to come together. Last half of the season is where we should look for improvements.

Currently 4th in fastbreak points. Posted that on Gobert thread but fits here well.,,

Need to stay more firey and fast-breakish on the road.

So we have played 2 of the top 5 teams in fast break points. Still wish we had done better there.

We're basing defense solely off points allowed on an up tempo offense? Of course they're going to give up more points, more fast break points, foul less, shoot higher percentage, allow higher percentage, etc. etc.

Give it 20 games people. The Jazz are rebounding the hell out of the ball and scaring teams into getting back. Go watch the Houston game again. If it wasn't a long board the Rockets were in full retreat mode all game long. That's Houston with Dwight Howard, rebounding monster. Snyder's system scared Kevin McSkell.

Defense-offense is always a trade off. Corbin like to play it conservative on both ends and keep the game close, then rely on steady eddie, one of the very best closers in the game, to get the W. Pretty much everyone hated that so why are you now bitching when you got what you called for? You can't have a top defense in a run-and-gun offense without multiple ball dominant players.

Efficiency doesn't correlate with tempo. Jazz' pace is still on the slower half of the NBA anyway.
