Jazz @ Timberwolves gamethread

I'm impressed at the stat boosting to end the game. Now I know how Lavine/Wiggins/Towns get such good numbers on a bad team.

I think Wiggins and Towns will be very good but they are not quite to the point of helping their team win much. Lavine is going to be a volume scorer that will help when on fire and hurt when he is not. I am guessing he will never be a decent defender and will drop off a lot when he hits 30 and losses athleticism. He is scoring with good numbers in wins this season and shooting as many shots in losses at 42%.

Being traded to the Jazz was a $20 million gift for Hill, which is how much more he is going to get on his next contract. And he owes half of that to Mack.

Someone seriously posted that Hill might not be that good because he doesn't get a ton of assists?

Get out of here with that. A lot of our scoring opportunities come from Hill, Hayward, and Hood creating for themselves off of the pick and roll. Just because Hill doesn't average 7+ assists a game doesn't mean he's not a true point guard.

He takes care of the ball at a league-best standard. He doesn't turn the ball over very often. He's a stable yet assertive ball-handler who can get the shots that he wants fairly often throughout the game.

Exum's confidence needs to be nurtured so he can bloom, it's going to be wilted away being stuck on the bench. When he does get game time i can see him being overwhelmed in his decision making process on court. Unless Ex knows their marketing Mack.He still deserves 5 mins out there.

lol. #bloom #wilt

Here are my takeaways:

#BEATTHEROCKETS

on a more serious note... Holy **** what a game, Rudy. He killed Deing and Towns and scored pretty much at will, all while grabbing every rebound out there.
Hayward and Hill combine for 46(?) [edit: 48! thanks, leggomyeggo] again even though it wasn't a particularly great game for either of them. They took over the game as a duo when Minnesota took the lead, though. What a pair we've got.
I'm disappointed by the DNP-CD for Exum, but as long as we're winning, I'm ok with anything.
10-8 and a 3 game win streak boys! Lets keep it going tomorrow night.

Wow.
Amazing.

He played great on both ends.

He was pretty flawless on defense. He really took advantage of Wiggins not being the best dribbler. Wiggins seems to struggle against physical players he can't have his way with on the post.

Hayward and Gobert have been playing unreal defense tonight.
Ya Hayward was fantastic on Wiggins. I saw Wiggins score a couple times when hood was on him and then they went back to Hayward guarding him and Wiggins went back to not scoring.

The definition of "true point guard" probably has to be changed in the modern era.

Burks is behind the bench. Wonder how close he is

Would love to see Burks get all of macks minutes. Bring back some triple wing.

How many points does Lavine get in garbage time? Every game I watch he seems to step up late in games that are pretty much out of reach. I have watched very few of his games this season though.

Looks like I was partially right. He shoots the most shots in 2nd and the 4th. But in the 4th he is only shooting 32%. He gets to the line more in the fourth but his ft percentage drops way off.

When his team is behind by 5 or less he shoots 32%. When his team is tied he shoots 42%. When his team is ahead or behind by 10 or more his FGA is 19.2 vs 11 FGA when the game is within 10 which is the majority (25.8) of his minutes vs 21.4 of his minutes in the ahead or behind by 10 or more category. So his shots per minute go way up when they are behind or ahead by a lot.

I was pretty disappointed Wiggins or LaVine didnt try to dunk on Gobert. I wanted to see some fireworks at teh rim.

Also Kris Dunn freaking sucks. Maybe we can trick the Wolves into taking Shelvin Mack for a 2nd rounder or something. Their PG situation is a mess.
