The Los Angeles Times is reporting the Lakers will open the NBA season with three games in three nights, including one against the Jazz.
According to the newspaper, Kobe Bryant & Co. will start against Chicago at home on Christmas Day. The game, of course, has already been announced.
The Times also reported that the Lakers will play the Kings in Sacramento on Dec. 26 before returning home to play the Jazz on the 27th.

So they give the Lakers their B2B2B when they're at their freshest.

6 games in 8 nights. That's pretty rough.

Time to fire up the old DVR.

I sure hope there are some nice internet options for these games.

The Jazz have a small chance, but the Jazz should be pretty ****ing awful to start the season.

In my opinion, we're deep and could handle the large number of games in such a short time frame fairly well. Watson's an above average backup point imo. Having a front line of Jefferson, Millsap, Favors, Kanter and Okur, even if the last is only 70% healthy, is great as far as depth up front is concerned. Where we're thin is on the wings but our bench guys there still feel capable to me. Add in the fact that many of our guys are very young and they should be able to recover well day to day. I'd love to see an up tempo style where our first 6 guys (Harris, Burks, Hayward, Millsap, Favors, Jefferson) are each getting about 30 minutes a game, with Watson, Bell, Miles and Kanter getting the remaining 15 each. We could split hairs on Burks/Miles but that's the gist of it. Run teams' weary legs into the ground. Don't overuse any one guy too, too much given the tightly-packed schedule. Jefferson could struggle some with this but if he's in better shape, he could be better than last year.

More specifically, I'd love to see, something like...

Millsap, Jefferson, Favors, Harris, Hayward 30 minutes each (150)
Burks, Miles 20 minutes each (190)
Watson, Kanter 15 minutes each (220)
Evans, Okur 10 minutes each (240)

The fact that it will be the Lakers 3rd game in 3 nights is meaningful. Who knows how good of shape everyone not named Kobe is in on the Lakers? The whole team seemed pretty unmotivated to end last year.

That awesome that we get the lakers on the last night of a back to back to back and no Bynum! Good chance to get a quality win!
