Jazz trade Devin Harris to Atlanta for Marvin Williams (merged)

I'm betting Williams shows off a bit more of his potential here. The Hawks were incapable of running their offense through Al Horford as well. They are an iso jump shooting team and that probably hurt his game.

I think Marvin Williams is a decent all-around player, not great at any one particular thing, but decent all-around. The Jazz traded Harris just when his trade value revived after the end of the season. Good move.

Also, I think Marvin Williams will benefit from being out of the Atlanta iso-ball system. Basically it was either Joe Johnson jacking up shots, or Josh Smith Jacking up shots, or Teague trying to get to the rim.

ATL obviously had a dysfunctional culture. I think Josh Smith's attitude 180 can speak to this.

I think a starting job as a dedicated scoring option, where he's no longer reserved for purely garbage buckets and transition scoring, can do a lot for a player of his potential and youth will have an impact on his play.

KOC has had his eye on him since the Deron draft. He's has faith in him. Let's face it, Harris was going no where in Utah. His attitude was poor and he only brought it when the Jazz had a shot at the post season. We now have room to play a PG who has a winning heritage and can shoot.

This is a good gamble with limited risk. It could hurt our cap space next season, but we fill a spot that was occupied by CJ and Howard, both players I'm happy to send packing.

This move has potential. Great move by KOC.

A point guard with a winning heritage? You mean when he played next to Lebron? Other than that and you overstating Harris' attitude, I don't generally have a problem with what you're saying here and hope you're right about Marvin's potential. Time will tell.

This has crossed my mind, as well. Then again, as long as Al is around, it'll be hard for anyone to show off their potential.

VERY happy to see there is definitely is going to be a shake-up, and I like the move.

However, it does bother me a bit to see Hawks fans acting like they just won the lottery. Nobody should be that happy about aquiring Devin.

That's why Devin making a run and the Jazz making the playoffs was good for us. You might remember how optimistic the Nets were last year when they acquired Mehmet Okur.

Or simply let him expire and have all that cash to spend on a stud FA next year.

Unless we're getting a great player back, I'd rather let him expire...

I am ok with keeping Al....if Corbin has the balls to bring him off the bench. He is our third best bigman. Play him like it.

Since KOC is working miracles, how about this one?

Al for Dragic through a S&T? I'd consider that.

Though I still think Deron is coming back. ;)

Yeah get Marvin out of that back court away from those two other ball hogs, he might be able to do some good things here.

Maybe he too can feed Al in the post and watch him back down for half the shot clock.

I'd trade the **** out of Al for Collison, still. Mo isn't a really viable longterm option. Ship Earl out too.

I like the trade - from the highlights on the net (yes, i know highlights can make any look great!) - he seems to have a nice stroke from the 3pt line - is very athletic - and can finish with authority. He obviously needs to get more consistency in his game based on his game log.

If he can give us 10-15 points per game shooting a reasonable percentage, knock down the open 3 regularly, grab 5 or so rebounds and play good defence at the 3, i think we would all be pretty happy.

He put up some good numbers in his last 2 games for the hawks where he got extended minutes agst the celts in the playoffs going 7 from 11 treys over the two games:
