What's new

Jazz trade up from 30 to 28 and select Tony Bradley

IDK, I haven't watched much on him, but I thought he was solid in the midrange and toying with shooting the 3.

In college he never shot away from the basket, and I think shot 61% from the line. Only played 15 minutes though, and Roy wasn't going to show him off.

Reportedly in workouts he did better than people thought. That doesn't mean much to me, tbh. I'm just here for the rebounding and defense.

No way he has better range than Favors. Maybe he can develop it, but if he ended up with the range of Favors, that's a win. I think he's a 5 only on both offense and defense. So no, he can't play with Gobert. He's our backup C, which I think we needed. I have a feeling we'll be playing a lot more 4 out-1 in.

Either way, definitely an upgrade to Withey in my mind.

I did watch some video of him draining shot after shot from top of the key/free throw area. He's got a midrange shot for sure, even if he didn't use in college.

He had hit 11 shots in a row in the FT line extended range in one of the videos I watched. He's already more consistent than when Favors started in the league that's for sure.

Yeah, I know he didn't shoot it in college. But you should watch some video on him shooting and you'll see why I think he can shoot.

Regardless of how he develops, I still wanted to make my point that if you found a stretch 5 with a 3 point shot, you could play him next to Favors and have them switch positions depending on offense/defense.

I like that he said he sees himself as either a starter or key player off the bench. Jazz have been lucky that Rudy has been relatively healthy. They need a backup who could be a decent starter if needed, especially if Favors leaves.

Oh yeah of course you could. I just don't think Bradley is that guy. Would be nice if he was though.

At first I gagged when I heard the pick. I thought we got Kyle kuzma and I was pumped. But a double take made me realize it was Bradley. Booooo.

However, I liked what they said on ESPN. They referenced moneyball and said that based on Jay Bilas he was the #32 bpa. Based on ESPN analytics he was the 10th pick in the draft. Whaaaaaa?

Next if you consider that the ONLY team that we leap frogged was the Spurs, there is no doubt that we sniffed this out. I could just picture the Spurs cussing out Dennis and it made me like the pick whereas I didn't at first.

I thought semi could help us. Also, we raived about kuzma. But in Dennis I trust. Trey Lyles was turrible, but we just traded Lyles and the 24 to jump up into the lottery!!! I can live with a moneyball replacement for withey.
I bet the Jazz wanted Kuzma or Bradley and they got nervous when Kuzma got drafted.

There are two ways to play with GSW, vesatile defenders who can defend, switch and force them into tough, contested shots. And abuse them on the offensive glass taking advantage of their small ball, forcing more help on their defensive glass and as a result slowing their transition game. Jazz addressed the former with Mitchell, the latter with Bradley.

Nice post.

I agree with this. It's very limited sample size. But his shot looks good. His shooting motion is smooth, he gets a good arc on the shot, seems to have a soft touch.

I' open to trying to like this pick. The Rudy like wingspan.

Yet I fear every Frank Mason highlight on ESPN, I will remember this pick

I don't mind taking Bradley at all. It fills a need at backup center and helps our rebounding problem when Gobert is off the floor.

He's still only 19 years old. He's the best offensive rebounder in the draft and one of the best defensive rebounders as well. He has Gobert-esque type of length as well.

Trading 42 to move up from 30 to 28 was a little steep but we don't know exactly what was going down. They likely either thought the Lakers were considering him at 28 or the Spurs were at 29. In the grand scheme of things I don't think it will matter much and I trust DL.

They also could have wanted a one or two of the guys who went before 28 and were worried about losing out on Bradley too.

I'm good with this pick too, as long as he doesn't start dating a Playboy Bunny.
