I was impressed by damn near everybody.
Evans, super impressive.
Kanter, shot look sweet, played good defense
Favors, great defense and transition buckets
Hayward, quiet but solid
Burks, spectacular at times, out of control at times
Burke, pretty damn good debut
Lucas, probably mvp of the game
Biedrins, solid
Everyone else (gobert, jefferson, mcguire, etc) meh.
I wonder what will happen when rush and marvin come back... might be bye bye burks..... hayward, jeffy, burks, rush, marvin, what will corbin do?
Maybe marvin plays the 4 and its bye bye evans?

I'd rather put Burks or Rush in the starting line-up take Jefferson and play him a few minutes here and there. I think Evans will be a 15 min player, spark off the bench. I don't want to see him against starters, so Marvin in as the 4 in the beginning. If that makes sense.
Yeah, got to give credit where credit is due. Corbin did a good job tonight with the prepping of the young studs.
Franklin* just had a seizure from an overload of satisfaction.
Key stat: Jazz outrebounded the Ws by 21. I know it's pre-season, but our interior defense and help defense in the lane were pretty solid. David Lee and Bogut didn't want none of that. Favors, Kanter, Evans, Biedrins, Gobert just kept it coming all night. We have a lot of length and mobility at the 4/5 spots. Huge difference from last year with Alsap. This is why our 2nd unit was more effective last year--everyone rebounds, everyone runs out.
So we finally have a semi-official game to make preliminary assessment of where we are. And I think we're in a good place. We have a tough defensive minded team with players who obviously love the game. The guys go after every rebound and every hustle play, and it's not even the regular season yet. The energy level makes the games fun to watch, and I believe we have a solid team all around despite all the naysayers. I can even see us winning 40 games.
Burke: He had a good game, but I do think he'll struggle quite a bit this season. As promising as he is, Burke is, and plays like, a rookie. He has decent quickness and good ball handling skills. He can cut, slash, split defenders, drive, and has good range. He's also a tenacious defender, which makes up for his lack of size. But he's a rookie. He will turn the ball over. He doesn't yet know how to select his shots. He gets confused mid-drive and makes ridiculous decisions. But they're all very fixable rookie mistakes, and Burke will probably be a solid PG for the Jazz.
Burks: It's almost like the 6th man role was tailor made for him! Why would anyone rather see him start? He is the same old Burks, but with more muscle and some refined moves. He can be the focal point of the second unit's offense, and I can't wait to see how he develops.
Favors: It's too early to tell since Favors tends to be a slow starter. But I think I can see hints of improvement to his offensive game. He's still not all that good offensively, and maybe he'll never be. I don't think it's necessary for him to become a skilled scorer for the team to succeed, and thus I am not as worried about his offense.
Kanter: He mostly exhibited his much improved mid-range shot. In addition to his quicker decision making in the post, Kanter will be a beast this year. I can't even imagine what his ceiling might be.
Evans: He had a good game, and I'm sure he'll be a serviceable player if needed. But he's not really "NBA good". He can jump and block shots. He can certainly dunk the ball. And he added a smooth mid-range jumper. But he still moves awkwardly on both ends, and he still doesn't defend his man the way he should. He has put on some mass, and he's probably more useful than Biedrins (maybe even Gobert for now).
Gobert: This guy... His offense is very raw, but his defensive potential is simply incredible. The man is HUGE. He's astonishingly long and has very active hands. He tries to challenge every shot, and he visibly disrupts the opponents' flow. But he's weak, young, and without much of an offensive game. Give him a year. I think we got something very special here.
Jefferson: Very composed, plays smart, and likely to earn some good minutes. He provides a much needed level-headedness to the team, and he has a good all-around game. I actually like him.
Lucas: He seems to play with an edge, but he's way too much of a chucker. His shots fell today, but I can picture the outrage on JF when it doesn't. so I hopes he gets some minutes.
Scrubs: Played like scrubs.

It's nice having 2 or 3 guys out on the floor who can really handle and pass the ball. We didn't have that last year either. Burke, Hayward and Burks can all make plays with the pass.
