What's new

Jazz vs Hornets | Wednesday November 24th @ 7pm

- Big Al is coming along nicely.
- Not a big scoring night for CJ, but I still liked his game tonight. Nasty block.
-Watson is looking as good as Maynor lately. Def better than Hart, McBrick etc. I like what I'm seeing from him.
- Price playing smarter, better passing, better shooting. Please keep it up.
- AK is HORRIBLE. No he is not having a good year overall. He's missing lay ups, not getting blocks, can't defend. He's a nightmare for us.
- Sap is a stud. AK see what hard work does for you? See what not leaving right after practice ends can do for your game? Sap has improved his game
a little each year. SAP owns you Klinko. You should carry his bags.

Great game. Deron owned CP3 again. Bring on the Lakers!!

Al registered his 22nd block of the season in his 16th game. Boozer had all of 36 in his 78 games last season.
I know the point you're trying to make, but you can't really compare the two. Al is playing at C, so he's replacing Memo, who had a similar block rate last season (1.1 bpg). However, Millsap at PF is registering just under a block a game and should surpass Boozer's block total from last season around the midway point of this season.

Regardless, the rotation of Al-Millsap-Elson and occasional Fes is much harder to score against around the basket.

I like how Elson has been playing lately. He seems much more comfortable out there and can actually knock down a jumper from 15 feet unlike a certain Big Fes that everyone is so enamored with. Deron owned it tonight and Big Al looked great, love the passion all around from tonights game. When we play like that we can beat anybody.

Or an unguarded set shot from 15 feet.

Elson is playing pretty well and is a good addition to the team. To counter your point above though, sure Fes doesn't shoot the 15 footer. But unlike Elson, he does all his scoring around the hoop: dunks, tips, baby hooks. Elson never seems to score down low.

I agree with most of this. Except one thing that makes me you think you are a bit crazy.

AK hasn't been horrible this year. He had a horrible game last night, that's it. Quit freaking out.

He's solid in defensive positioning, and he's decent running the offense despite not being able to score outside of five feet. That makes him, what, a worse version of Ostertag with slightly better hands?

....well, he's a space eater, he's tall, he hustles, he's also clumsy enough to scare the heck out of anybody who get's near him!

No kidding. But the AK hate is strong on the board. All they see is dollar signs.

Now THAT's what I bought NBA League pass this season for!!! Outstanding team basketball all-round by the Jazz. I keep sayin', this team is gonna be special once they all get to know each other's games, and the two rooks outgrow their rookie-ness...
Not worried about AK; he only played 26 minutes, so he'll be well-rested by the time the Lakers come to play us. Raja about the same.

The second courter lineup has the the most fun part of the game. I bet teams guards absolutely hating having to play watson and price. They pressure on defense 100% of the time. I love it.

...what I would like to see or know are the turnover comparisons between Jefferson and Boozer last year and his year. Big Al may have his deficencies but I guarantee you he turns the ball over way less than Boozer did! Those extra 3, 4 or 5 possessions are the difference between winning and losing in most cases!

Right. Fortunately, AK's horrible game coincided with the rest of the team pretty much firing on all cylinders. AK can (and has, from time to time) carry us when much of team is off.

I think when you see Millsap out next to other players, he's closer to 6'7" than 6'8" though.

I once saw Miles, Brewer and Millsap all standing next to each other chatting before a RMR game. They were all the same height or so close I could not see a difference from about 20 feet away. So either Cj and Brewer are taller than advertised or Millsap is shorter.

Well if CJ is 6'6" and Brewer is 6'7", then a 6'8" Millsap would look really close to the same size.

The game changed when Elson came in and took on David West. He snuffed him out a couple of times and broke the Hornets rhythm. Elson's defense and hustle is why he is getting minutes over Fess.

Also Watson and Price and really hustling as well.

Maybe. But from 20 feet away? I was pretty close and at nearly eye level with them (I was in the stands 2 rows up. :). And if Cj is really 6'6" then there is no way in hell Millsap is 6'8". They were right next to each other.

i wouldn't be surprised if CJ has grown. Have they ever changed his listed height since he was drafted?

Similarly, I suspect AK is about an inch taller than his listed height.
