Thoughts from the game. . .
The whole team looked tired in the first half, then woke up at halftime when Hood and Exum both decided to take over.
Hayward shouldn't be playing. He looked off and tried driving a few times but couldn't finish. I'm guessing it's his shoulder from that hard fall awhile back. Team started clicking when they sat him.
Favors quietly dominated the game, but didn't seem very aware on defense tonight.
Gobert is a freaking star in the making. So active for such a big guy. I loved his moves on offense to start the game. Wish he'd do more of that, even if it doesn't succeed.
Booker and Jingles are badasses. They harass and irritate their opponents for the whole game. I mentioned it earlier, but Joe is vastly underrated. He's got a weird-*** shot, but it goes in. And his defense is excellent. Very irritating. The Jazz need to keep both guys because they're helping to establish the team identity on and off the court. Joe is always messing around. Was throwing the basketball at the rookies during warmups. Cracking jokes and just being a genuinely awesome guy.
Burke and Johnson both played well when I paid attention to them. Burke tries hard when he's out there. If he can improve his accuracy on his shot, he's going to be a very solid reserve PG for this team and turn into a decent asset down the road. He has to play within himself though.
Exum impressed the heck out of me. I wish he'd look for himself first while he's driving, and there were a couple of times that he could have slashed, but held back. When he starts taking those opportunities, he's going to be fantastic. Hood was the star of the show though. Don't know why in the hell the Kings kept leaving him wide open, but he's damn near money when that happens. His shot is so pretty. Exumdid well getting open and hitting threes as well. Was impressed by the fast break that they connected on after Exum got that 1 on 1 transition play.
Play of the game was a tie between Exum's block and the fast break, Gobert with his little turn-around shot in the paint and Favors 1 on 1 block there toward the end. That was strait up will-power on that play. #hungry
Jingles should guard the inbounds pass at the end of the game. Always. He's so aggressive that I'm surprised he doesn't force more turnovers. He has great awareness of when and where the pass is going. If he'd been on the inbounds and Rudy was in the paint against Boston they would have won that game.
And last but not least. . . Quin Snyder is a badass coach. He's always talking and communicating with his guys. Jingles is always walking over and talking to him during down time. He talks to the guys when the come off. It feels like he has a great relationship with his players and they respect him. I was impressed.
