What's new

Jazz vs Kings 7:00 MST.

Well maybe it was different here. I wouldn't know because I wasn't a member of the site at that time. All I know is that most of the Jazz fans that I interacted with didn't have a problem with AK, just his contract.

Kirilenko used to do near that himself some games, and fans here treated him like dog doo doo and broke him.
Fans didn’t treat him like that when he did that. In fact, Jazz fans on the whole and the organization generally bend themselves and their perceptions however they can to rationalize committing to a dude that didn’t commit to anything but his own pleasure at all times.

Lies. He got crucified by most here.

Stockton and Malone broke him. Had they stayed one more year, AK doesn’t get a max contract because he wouldn’t have been the #1 option on a team that had no scorers and no Boozer and Memo.

but in all seriousness it was AK and that max deal that broke AK. He couldn’t handle being so low on the offensive priority. After he got paid, he stopped doing the hustle plays and felt as a max guy he had to score but his opportunities were lessened due to being around better scorers. AK could’ve built his career off of hustle plays and defense and spectacular plays like Gobert had he not lost interest, but Gobert is one in a million and twice the player AK ever was up stairs. Then... then the fans turned on him.

He wasn’t the player he thought he was coming off that first season without the statues. That was a team with no talent and no one else who you wanted to dominate the ball. Someone had to score and AK was the most talented player by far on that roster. He lost his identity on that team.

Yeah, they’re interesting parallels. AK wasn’t supposed to be a big offensive guy. It wasn’t what made him unique. Had he done the dirty work and stayed motivated he still could have ate (at least 15 ppg) and could have been a huge reason for our success. He was here first then we brought in more talent in the form of Boozer, Memo, and Deron, and he folded. Likewise, Gobert was here first, and we have brought in more offensive talent in the form of Donovan, Bojan, Conley, and Jordan, and even though Rudy isn’t scoring 18+, he’s important and still eats (15 ppg).

That’s the difference between the two. Imagine if Rudy was the kind of guy who folded because we brought in more guys and felt hurt to not be as large of a part of the offense as he could be. If Rudy were to do that, he’d have to be a small fraction of the guy he is today. And that’s what we got of AK — a small fraction of him mentally.

The AK beat down started his first year and grew exponentially thereafter. I assume his max contract came in year 4 or 5? He was taking a lot of abuse long before that.

His first year?

first year.
and here you are decades later, you've got to make cruel unfair judgments about his mental inadequacies, based on your myopic biased opinions about things you really know little about. IF he is not a god, then you've got to crucify him , even decades later.

what do you want to know?
Who criticized AK as a rookie? What did they criticize him for? How wide spread was it?

Separate from that, I’m genuinely curious if you’re personally connected to him, because these are some bizarre statements for even rabid AK fans.

So zero blocks and steals then? or like 5? or zero? which is it guys? I mean clearly, since AK was so mentally deficient, and infection and wes are clearly so mentally strong, then they must each have like 10 thousand NBA blocks and steals, amirite?

Professional athletes get criticised... Pretty much all of them.
