JAZZ vs. Magic - Orlando Pro Summer League - 1pm et 7/6/10

Food for thought from Ross Siler:

Before jumping to any summer-league conclusions, remember that Wesley Matthews averaged 6.2 points, shot 34.8 percent last year in Orlando.

I agree that summer league is not a place to draw conclusions, but to get indicators of what some could do. I predicted that Nene was a complete bust as a result of his summer league play as well as Robert Swift - i batted 50% on that prediction. This much is true - it is definately Jazz fan heartwarming to see your players not look pathetic.

I'll look at the game later, but hearing that Hayward had another solid game is very encouraging. Also, Kufous... I thought after his rookie season he'd be a player in the NBA. Last year, i began to doubt. Hopefully, he finds himself this summer and gains some confidence.

After Tim Duncan's RMR debut, I was telling everyone how ****** he was and how he was going to be a bust. Oops. Ostertag kicked his *** all over the court in what turned out to be a one time thing.

I said it then and I'm still sticking to it:

Ostertag>Duncan

Ha ha! I remember sitting in the RMR watching Lonny Baxter out play Nene and laughing because Denver had made a huge mistake. He looked awful.

For those that have watched the games, how does Hayward's defense look? Are guys blowing by him or can he stay with them?

He's been good so far. He stays in front of his man. I think I saw him get beat maybe twice today, on one play he was late to rotate on the baseline and fouled. He's been blocking shots and getting deflections, a lot of his rebounds have been defensive. As far as guarding his man, he looks totally capable against summer league scrubs.

Question about summer league scrubs. Do you think that summer league teams have more talent than college teams? Granted, they don't play with each other for a long time, but they're still the better college players.

I think so, yes. It's not even close to NBA talent obviously, but IMO it is a small step up from college. You get some players that have played in the NBA, look at OKC. There's more NBA experience in summer league than in college.

In my very unprofessional opinion the players are better yes but the teams are not

Dude, singler would school Santi Gaines.

Does anyone really think that Boom Bitches would outplay Zoubek?

The majority of these summer league teams are pretty horrible from what I've seen.

Singler and Gaines dont even play the same position.

Koufus would own Zoubeck, well maybe not own, but he is better

OKC team would destroy all College teams.

Mabye it was Scheyer that I was thinking of. I can't remember.

I dunno. Like I said, most of these Summer League teams have been pretty horrible.
