What's new

Jazz vs Mavericks | Friday December 3rd @ 8:30pm

What do ya th'o't we's would gots ta give up ta pry him away from da Tokyo Apache??

Swift would give da Jazz uh major lift off da bench.

I'd say about 8:1, depending on what they say about the weather. That's a conversation for the ages!

I'd say about 8:1

Eight ta one? I likes dos odds. Da Jazz gotta do what dey gotta do ta git Swift. Maybe AK's huge contract? Ye no das thats uh pimp-tight idea ya'll is mad stupid if yall dont likes it. Sure AK iz pimp-tight but Swift has tats like mine an' he iz seven one...can ya says championship??

What?

Big time game for the Jazz, this one is on par with the Lakers game as far as importance for pure standings implications and continued team confidence. We need to come out strong and impose our will, we do that, we win, simple.

I say Jazz win by 4
Jazz 107
Mavs 103

Is it hard to type responses like you have education at all?

The difference this year is that the Jazz have defense....and the rebounding is coming along.

D.Will tires out Jason Kidd (especially running on him in the cool thin air of SLC)
Raja shuts down Jason Terry, while Deshawn shuts down himself.
AK shuts down Caron Butler.
Dirk tries to beat us all by himself and comes close, but can't.
Al Jeff scores on the Mavs' centers.

Our bench betters their bench with more energy.

And that's your ballgame.

No problem. Mavs have sucked this year as we all know. They have got a pretty good bench, but yeah Jazz by 5 and Harpring will suit up to give Nowitski a tough time.

Utah bench a plus. I'm not optimistic about Millsap on Nowitzki (or Millsap on Butler if AK defense Dirk). I hope that Sloan carefully monitors Millsap's game and is quick (i.e., after 5+ minutes but not 1.5 quarters) to sub in Miles or maybe Elson (and/or move AK to defend Dirk) if things aren't going well.

Also, AJ is up against a lot of height in Chandler and Haywood. I hope that Sloan is judicious on figuring out who works out of Elson (if available), Fesenko, or Jefferson. Chandler and Haywood aren't huge scorers, so keeping in AJ simply for scoring purposes even if defense lacks isn't necessarily the best strategy.

Last year Millsap started against Dallas and had 25 pts, 9 reb and 4 blk.

Yikes, our record was 29-18 and that game put us at 6 wins in a row? I almost feel spoiled with the record we have now. Seems like we've got a team full of players that grew a pair at some point in their life, unlike the guys that went to play for the Chicago Jazz.

Seeing that video made me wonder about how the team would be different if we had matched Matthews. I wonder how much the intangibles that Raja brings are affecting us. Matthews gave us a much better fast break player and slasher. Though Matthews has turned into a gunner in Portland.

Don't get me wrong, Matthews is a helluva player, and it would have been nice to keep him, but not at that price. He has become The Man in Portland out of necessity. Here he's still a good player, but doesn't have nearly as much opportunity to become a beast.
