What's new

Jazz vs Nets | Wednesday November 17th @ 7pm

Like I done axxed before, S2, read much? Ya think they aint never been but one article in the paper, that the idea. Very early in this very thread a newspaper article sayin: "Fesenko: didn't practice, game-time decison" was cited.

If ya caint read, it won't do me no good to repeat what already done been writ, eh?
What would do good is to cite your sources. I never said he didn't practice.

Fortunately I was talking about shootaround anyway. Just commenting on your sloppiness.

Yeah, right, eh? You was callin my observation that Go4 was, in an evasive and disingenous manner, acknowledgin that Fess didn't participate in practice, "ignorance" and "garbage." After all, you pointed out, Go4 said he "fully participated." Chump. Backtrack right on ahead witcho bad self, there, eh?

He practiced (long shootaround) on the day of the game. He didn't practice the day before. He was ready to play. Sloan didn't play him. I was OK with that. Yet your spew continues.

Yeah, he attended some shoot-arounds last year, too, so NOBUDDY can say he didn't practice, just because he misses a much-needed practice session.

You quoted (without, *gasp*, citin your source) Phil Johnson's post-game interview earlier. I heard it too. Johnson went out of his way to make a distinction between a "shootaround" and a practice. He also pointed out that those WHO WEREN'T playin big minutes were given strenous practice workouts, while they eased up on the worn-down starters.

Your "argument" is this: So what if he missed a (rare) practice opportunity? He went to shootaround.

Ya been takin "coachin 101" lessons from Iverson, that it, S2?

Still waiting for your elbow beat down appointment time. I want to see how dizzy you are that night and the next day when you ride a bike for 2 hours. While I am waiting, why don't you go back and read where I say that he didn't practice the day before the game but rode a bike for 2 hours. Yeah, was really skirting the subject there. Secondly, whether you say you don't like Fes or you don't it doesn't matter. Your tone, condescension, name calling (Dizzy) etc. say exactly what you feel and everyone knows it. Fans of Fes or not, everyone knows it. Its ok though, you can hop on the Portland board next year or perhaps Houston and keep spouting your same garbage because as an unrestricted free agent next year, the Jazz aren't really giving him much reason to stick around.

Millsap didn't practice today. What a wuss.

If Fess had a headache, and was "dizzy" (what else is new there, eh?) and couldn't bear to practice, so be it. I aint sayin he shoulda practiced. Only he knows how he felt. Either way, he missed what (for him especially) was an important practice.

Harp was kinda makin fun of Fess for not practicin because of a headache.

Sloan once said John Stockton won every race in every practice, every year he was there. Then he took it back. He said he lost once when he had the flu. He went on to say that the fact that Stockton still tried to win said more about him than winnin races.

Sloan played the second half of a game with a broken foot. He played with broken ribs.

Steve Nash goes into the locker room to git 15 stitches, and is back on the floor 10 minutes later.

Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas played entire games (at a high level) with severe headaches and other flu symptoms.

Granted, not every player can have the tenaciousness, the determination, and the ability to endure extreme pain as guys like Stockton, Malone, and Sloan. But it wouldn't surprise me if Sloan took notice of the fact that Fess couldn't even play the next day over what (for NBA players) was a relatively minor injury.

As unreasonable as Hopper usually is when it comes to Fes, I have to agree that his excuses for not participating are getting old. How many more headache/stomachache/bad mood injuries must we endure from him? This is a major concern since I think Fes is an important factor in being a contender, specially with AJ's terrible defense.

Go4, I'll say this once more. I like Fess and I think he has talent. I DON"T like the irrational claims made by Fess fanboys or the resort to tearing down other players in an attempt to make Fess look better.

So now the "threat" is that he'll go to another team, eh? Didn't he already try that tactic this year? Gunna take his marbles elsewhere, eh? Well, aint that special?

This fanboy syndrome is prevalent and recurrent on every fan board throughout the league. Often it arises when a player gets drafted and fans from his college join a board to follow him. Invariably, those "fans" strike an adversarial pose against the coach. The coach should be startin their boy. The coach is unreasonable. The coach is incompetent. If their boy plays 10 minutes, it shoulda been 20. If 20, it shoulda been 30. If 30, then 40. If he has a bad game, it's all the coach's fault for stiflin his natural talents and not lettin him just "play his game."

In a locker room, those types would be straight-up cancer. They don't give a rat's *** about the team, they are only fans of their boy, and they depise any "enemy" (such as a starter) who deprives them of the chance to watch their boy in action.

Fes has a reputation from years past to overcome and he knows it. So far we are into 8 preseason games and 12 regular season games and so far he has missed one. One in which the doctor sent him home as a precaution from getting other players sick. He was sent home half-way through the shootaround that day (according to Hopper, they don't really matter anyway) and came back in time for the game.

Last night Fes was perfectly fine and able to play. That he didn't is a mystery to Fes and anyone else around him.

Whether you love him or hate him; whether Fess is 12th man or full-time starter playin 40+ minute a game and averagin a double-double; whether he's with the Jazz or some other team; one fact remains: "Dizzy" is the perfect nickname for Fess.

Uh-huh...Keep talking to yourself.

Yeah, Lopez scored 0 points in the 2nd half, I'm sure Al's defense had nothing to do with it.

Who remembers how many points he scored in the first half? It was such a long time ago! I'll just accept an arbitrary period of time where one player failed to score as evidence, rather than the previous 12 games and my own lying eyes.

Those of us who were in on the board pre-Deron Williams are exceedingly familiar with this phenomenon.

Nice try with the innuendo, there, eh, Kicky? While dozens of posters were slammin Sloan for not playin Deron more his rookie year, I never joined them. I supported Sloan's judgment and authority, as the coach. It aint his first rodeo. Deron has developed into an excellent player, all the bitchin of guys like S2 notwithstandin.

I don't think I tried innuendo; I'm pretty sure I used it successfully. There's also a reason I only quoted that one sentence.

There are a fair number of posters here, including yourself, that are Deron Williams transplants from Illinois. If Deron was traded tomorrow I imagine several posters would migrate over to the other team's board. Many of those posters were very upset about Dee Brown not making it in the league.

We've gone through the exact same phenomenon previously. At one point we had an exclusively Turkish language board just for Memo fans. Some of the most vicious posts I've ever seen were by Puerto Rican nationalists.

And then there was Coach.

19-13.

May he rest in peace.

Um, didn't he score like two more points than Al in the first half? Al guarded him better than Bozzer ever did.

Lopez scored 17 points. AJ had 16 for the entire game. Regardless, I never mentioned AJ's offensive skills. All I'm saying is that Jefferson can be soft on the defensive end. Fes can provide very useful lane clogging, as long as he actually plays.
