***Jazz vs Sixers tonight @7!*** Lyles to Debut!

I was not impressed by lyles.
I noticed his defender usually sagged off him and gave him the outside shot..... When he took it, he usually missed.

I watched him in warm-ups and had an angle right behind him where he was shooting from (I watched him take about 20 shots from this spot. About two steps inside the three point line)
He made about 35% I would say..... Motum, cooley, and johnson were probably making about 70% from the same area.
From the angle I had while watching him shoot I noticed that his left hand does a weird side spin flick thing on his release and makes his shot go a little bit off-line.
Hopefully he can fix that weird hitch. (I never noticed it in highlight videos but it was very noticeable from the angle I was watching)
He also got out rebounded by that furkan dude multiple times when trey had the better position.
I think lyles only had like one rebound in regulation.

I didn't think trey looked horrible, but mildly disappointing

AlJeff aint no slouch on offense, son. Probably the hardest cover at the 5 in the NBA.

Only thing with Jahill is that he's potentially more versatile on offense. He can operate with P&R, post-ups, pin-downs, etc. AlJeff is a bit less versatile, but he still gets buckets.
Al jeff could go way outside too

4/5 pick and roll... Nice!

Yeah, his the skeleton of his form looks pretty good, but you can tell there are a few things small things he might need to fix. It makes sense that his off-hand might be interfering with his shot a bit from the way he misses.

I haven't really noticed the hitch yet, but that would also explain the lack of arc and a tendency to push the ball on his shots.

Trey Lyles finished with 10 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

I did see him get out rebounded once or twice, but for the most part I saw him box out nice.

Does have a nice shot I think, always on target. They will start to go down.

Overall I was excited about Lyles. We still had him playing out of position the entire game as he was basically just a faux stretch 4 the entire game and didn't really get many touches down low. When he did manage to get himself to the FT line or lower is when he looked more comfortable. He is a work in progress stretch/playmaker and I think he has potential to achieve his potential in that role.

Hard to judge defense when he has only played with the team for 1.5 days. He isn't going to wow anyone with his individual defensive ability, but I'm sure he will be able to do much better in our defensive concept once he learns it.

Yeah, I noticed him just focus on boxing his man out a few times and letting someone else grab the rebound when he could have easily just grabbed it himself. If he was more aggressive going for rebounds he could have made his numbers look better, but it doesnt really matter either way. He could up his intensity on the boards though.

But why did we draft this? We did not need any of this. We should take booker or ombre and it will be proven. watch.

If I remember right, Lyles said he hasn't done any 5 on 5 work since April. He looks like he can be coached and the Jazz will give him a role. Needs to work on his body, though.

I saw that multiple times too.

I was underwhelmed but it was just 1 sl game and his first taste of the nba so I'm not going to read much into it and try to predict how good or bad he will be.

Kind of like the kanter and Exum picks, he is really quite an unknown to me and we well just have to wait a while to see what we have

I'm fairly certain that if we drop Neto, no one else picks him up. Also fairly certain that if we let Cotton go, he will be playing elsewhere. That is an easy choice to make.

WHAAA???? You are crazy. This is stupid. sorry.

Just saw the Cooley/Lyles PNR in OT. That is the most exciting thing about Lyles. Great play, great pass.
