What's new

***Jazz vs Sixers tonight @7!*** Lyles to Debut!

Ingles had to sign his contract.

This has been an awfully quiet summer for Trey. I have a hunch he has requested a trade from the Jazz behind closed doors. While the front office and media gave Burke a lot of praise for accepting the bench role, I'm not sure that he's fully comfortable with it, particularly given that Exum is younger.

Our glut of PGs including the Neto signing and drafting Hanlam makes me think that Burke's days in Utah are numbered, potentially out of his own request. When people talk about the camaraderie and chemistry of the team, Burke is seldom an example of that.

The only other thing I can think of is that Lindsey doesn't think Cotton is an NBA player, and I just find that hard to believe given his play.

Agree with all this ..

He better be getting comfortable with it, doesn't matter how good he thinks he is, reality is gonna bite pretty soon.

Some players just like to do their own thing.

Hayward has been doing his own thing his entire career. He hardly spends anytime during the off-season with his teammates or in Utah for the 5 years he has been here, from what I can tell. He has done just fine.

Not an expert at Alt making, but pretty sure the first rule is to not get caught and having the same personalities is pretty much a definite No No, let alone tying yourself to yourself by mentioning yourself in the sig.

Flc pretty much has no clue.

Or you are some kind of alt-super-genius. Hide in plain sight. Amirite?

Yeah, I'm right.

Hayward is not the leader of this team. This is Rudys team now.

Hayward is the leader, pretty much everyone on the team says so. When they get on the court, who gets the ball in crunch time? Who do they expect to set them up for easy looks?

Jordan was the leader of the Bulls and I'm pretty sure he didn't have sleep-overs at Pippen and Rodman's houses in the off-season.

But why did we draft this? We did not need any of this. We should take booker or ombre and it will be proven. watch.

Could be. I hope not thought.

We need to see a lot more of Lyles before we can make any more judgements. He has barely got his toes wet with us. One practice and one SL game.

I disagree and I think time will prove me right. Clearly no one is going to hand over the reins to Rudy officially. Hes a two now three year player.

But silently Rudy is taking over this team. He is more agressive, more intense, and more involved with the team.

Mark my words in two years in wont even be a question.

People need to start distinguishing between the Trey's.

Ehh, maybe the leader of the defense and the emotional leader. He won't be the guy who they turn to when the game is on the line to lead the team to victory. That guy is typically the "leader" the person the team turns to to make that play.

I hope we evolve into a big 2 or big 3. Rudy's offensive game is just starting, I'm sure he'll show some of it during this season.

Right now that is Hayward. I do not think that will change this season. I think Hayward will still be our go-to guy.

I really hope HOOD will be given some chances in these situations this year as well. I really believe he can be a real go to guy on offense, and is a cool head to boot.

Hayward is still my number one though.

He may not be the offensive leader of this team, but that does not mean this cant be his team.

I think quietly he is becoming the off the court leader of this team. Also, I think he will stand up for players on the court.
Something Hayward has never really done. So Hayward is the guy who will take a lot of the last shots? Does that
mean he is our best player, and the team "leader"? We need a guy like Hay on the team for sure. But like I told you
I dont ever see this team being a top team in the west with Hayward as our #1 "leader". Certainly he is and will continue to be
one of the leaders. Just not the main man.

This is all debatable Cy, and certainly Hay has built up his respect in the league. What I am saying is that in reality its starting to be Gobert, and will
continue to swing that way. In two years there wont be a question who's team this is. And when Gobert does take over this team officially it will be a great thing
for us.

We shall see...

Am I taking crazy pills or am I the only one who thinks Burke is better than Cotton? Cotton is a fun and exciting guy, but I don't know why everyone is so quick to give up on Burke. Cotton doesn't play noticeably better defense than Trey and I don't know if he can run the second unit. I'd definitely like to keep Cotton, but after signing Neto, I don't know if that's possible. Christapher Johnson looks like he will make the team, but who knows.

Noticed this too. Must say I thought Cotton was all class in that post game interview with Steve Brown.

Was Trey Burke at the game tonight? I noticed Ingles there so he must have flown halfway around the world in the last 48 hrs to be at our last SL summer league game.
Ingles, sap, booker, neto, alec, dante, hood, Rudy all there.
Favors was there on Tuesday along with all those guys except ingles.

I think basically the whole team has been there except Hayward and trey.

Cotton makes no time deflecting praise, saying the game ball goes to Cooley.

Gonna hurt when we cut him. Really, really he lands on another NBA team.

He's a real class act, isn't he? That humility is always on display. It's one of the main reasons so many Providence fans are rooting so damn hard for him to realize his dream. Teams told him they would draft and stash him. He said no. It's the NBA or bust. What was the very first thing Bryce said when Exum went down? "He's a great player, but an even better person."
You can say the same of Cotton. Soft spoken and humble, thinks of his teammates first, deflects praise at all turns. This is why, even though I follow all the guys that graduate to the League, that I have never wanted one of our players to make it more then this great kid.

I agree.
I think Rudy is the leader of the team too.
The players might say is Hayward publicly because Hayward is more experienced than every one else, got the max contract, and is considered by most people to be the face of the franchise (since Rudy just barely made a name for himself), but I think the players really think Rudy is the leader.

Of course there is no way for me to know, but that is the feeling I got while watching the team the second half of last year

I think Rudy is the leader of the team. Hayward is the best scorer inv the team so they get him the ball when they need someone to score

This^. Cotton not only can play in the NBA but he is without a doubt one of the best personalities to have in your locker room and represent your team.
