Agreed on the 1,2,3 but I think the big guys mostly translate since fundamentals & size win throughout the ages & because the big guys aren't the ones who have made ridiculous leaps in athleticism. That's a body type thing. Bottom line is I would have taken Billups over Frazier there too.

Hey Catch, i don't know if you are waiting for my input. I sent a PM this AM, don't know if you saw it. It sounds like Franklin thinks Frazier is good, so he's trying to talk down his stock. I don't think that's who Spycam wants though. I'll shut up now.
 
This is the last meaningful pick for us, since after this we only have a few spot minutes available at a couple positions. That said...

At forward, 6'10" from somewhere in Croatia: Toni Kukoc

Highlights:

Sweet-shooting forward who can stretch the floor or slide down to the post
Good size
Underrated passer
Can facilitate up high while KG posts his defender, making Penny and Nique cutters or kick-out options

Key part of the Chicago Bulls championship teams 1996 - 1998
Averaged 19 points, 7 rebs. and 5 assists for the Bulls in 1998-99
Averaged between 33% and 45% from 3-pt. range throughout his career
Plays better as a secondary scoring option

I was going to include Olajuwan as a possible exception, but don't see how the rest use allegedly increased athleticism to make up for height, length, & mass. Big bodies are effective & can be used as a weapon against athleticism (Shaq, although he was pretty damn athletic before he got fat). So can length. I remember Malone struggling to score against Shawn Bradley in a few games. Imagine him going up against bigger guys who could play both ends of the floor. & again, fundamentals, or in other words Tim Duncan. He is less athletic than the old bigs.

This definitely isn't true for the small forward down because mass, height, & length aren't the limiting factors as they are in post play. This is demonstrated well enough in this draft by nobody taking English, Dantley, & even Jordan-lite from the 90's. James Worthy is probably the only guy not named Magic Johnson who's even in the athleticism discussion. & that's a knock on my own guy Havlicek who I took as a token legend & not for actual ability. I would have rather taken Ray Allen & Worthy or Pierce there & waited for any point guard.
 
How about my guy Arts Gilmore? No one was said anything about him.

When he came into the NBA he was putting up some of the best numbers for big men. Take the 77-78 season for example when Bill Walton won the MVP. Bill Walton averaged 18.9 ppg 13.2 rpg 5.0 ast 1 stl 2.5 blks on 52% shooting. Artis Gilmore averaged 22.9 ppg 13.1 rpg 3.2 ast .5 stls 2.2 blks on 56% shooting. He tied for the 8th spot in MVP voting. His team did only finish with a 40-42 record, so that's why he didn't win. If he had a better team during those times we might be talking about him differently. Any who, I just thought this was interesting. The more I look into his career the more I like him. What I like most is that he holds the NBA record in FG% at 59%. Shaq is the next closest at 58%.

Here is a very interesting short video on him. There is some pretty cool commentary from some legends such as Julius Erving. Check out his vertical 45 seconds in. His head is at the rim, and his hand extends above the white square. This guy could really protect the basket.

Best fro of the draft. Yes, he's a good player. Not super quick, but a good player.
