Jazzfanz ALL-TIME Fantasy Draft

And my last two, who you're all familiar with, and quite frankly who I don't feel like going into detail about, are Shane Battier and Gerald Wallace. DeBusschere was very close to being selected here but I needed Battier (for defense and shooting) and quite frankly, some modern day athleticism in Crash to match up with the likes of Lebron and Co.

Aguire, Moncrief and a few others were close to making my team. But my 10 man squad I'm running out each night is damn solid...

Bob Lanier, Geroge Mikan
Dave Cowens, Bob McAdoo
Shane Battier, Gerald Wallace
Sam Jones, Mitch Richmond
Dennis Jonhson, Mo Cheeks

I'm curious how well people think my team could compete with the others here and in fact, if they could beat some of the teams.

Okay...

If you don't like this bracket, then suggest something better. I don't want to do a Round Robin thing, and I don't want to vote people out before a bracket is formed because some have expressed they would feel they wasted their time making a team, only to have it eliminated without actually facing anyone.

Agreed, what's going on here people? We can't make decisions about the competition format by only a few ones opinions. I'm not good with this format even I think this game as a pastime amusement.

Btw, I'm not saying this because of I'm not one of the byes.

Me either. I'm not happy at all with such unilateral decision. However, I'm much more annoyed by the fact that voicing my opposition to the idea was completely ignored, as if it had already been decided by those who know better. I won't be whining about this any longer, as it's plenty clear I'm not okay with it.

What's your suggested alternative?

If I was picking here, I take McAdoo, Cheeks, probably Dennis too....
I was also thinking Houston, Chandler, Dale Davis, Ibaka, Ratliff if they are available.
maybe Carr, Peja or Mike Miller, Bowen
a few others would be considered.\
I am not familiar with the others Wes took beyond their names.

Here's my 14th squad, without spending more than 3 minutes on it.
Chandler, Ratliff
Carr, Ibaka (?) , D Davis
Peja, Jones
Houston, Bowen
D Scott, ?

Still have Divacs Smits, Prince, etc to consider, so this is a work in progress.
Would have to review stats and stuff. (Is Ratliff a center or PF?)

Voting on bottom 4 is the best idea we've actually come up with and discussed. Voting on top 8 is a worse idea, but still better than this. Hell, I'd even take your idea as long as it is discussed in the open, instead of just two people deciding their teams should make it to the next round automatically. I'm okay with anything as long as the logic is explained openly and the majority agree to it.

I think that's a good team and could probably beat a couple others. The centers are solid. I've never been a Shane Battier fan and would have looked at Eddie Jones and Eddie Johnson. I figure Rudy Gay might also show up at some point, but you're going defensive. Wonder what you thought of Bobby Jones of the Sixers. Don't remember how good Bob McAdoo was compared to a guy like John Salley or even a guy like Brian Grant or Kevin Willis. Mitch Richmond is a great scorer, but I also liked Rolando Blackmon. Nice team. I really don't know the guys pre-80s that well.

The logic was explained. People built their teams to go head-to-head with other teams, and would feel they wasted their time if that never actually happened, so we decided maybe that wasn't the best idea. Then, NUMB expressed that having 4 byes instead of 2 might be better to even out the advantages, or something along those lines. Feel free to word that better, NUMB.

Having said that, if the majority express they would rather vote out the bottom 4, then I suppose we can.

How were the byes and the seeds decided? Randomly picked?

Yes, I entered in each person's name and had the website randomly determine the placing. You can mess around with the site and see for yourself how it functions, if you'd like.

I don't like the idea of voting out the bottom 4. Given that, the only idea I could come up with that didn't include voting out the bottom 4 and also didn't include byes was having 3 brackets of 4 teams in single-elimination format and then having the bracket winners all competed each other. Not perfect, but everyone would get at least one head-to-head matchup and nobody would have any byes.

How about making a two group with 6 random teams, then let all the people to vote for the first 4 teams in each group, then make a quarter finals tournament with those 8 teams remaining?

If I'd be voted out in the group stage, I would still feel better than the current format.

Sounds overly complicated. If we're going to vote people off the island, I'd rather just do the bottom 4 and keep it simple.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is about a bye. If you think your team can win, then what does it matter if another team gets a head start on you?

@Spycam just do it the way you originally did. People will freak out either way. I'm assuming you chose the people with byes randomly? If so that's fair.

Everything was randomized by the website. I think we can all agree that there is no perfect way to do this, but even if this isn't you #1 preferred option, you have to admit it's one of the better ones. I just don't understand why they bye's are causing such a stir. If you got a bye, then get knocked out immediately, is it really any better than getting knocked out in the first round? Both parties would have won 0 rounds.
